How to completely remove all fadetimes/transitions from the default Animate script? No exceptions

Hello! So, for my game, i’ve taken the default R15 Roblox Animate script and changed the animation values to the ones i want. The Priority for the Run, Walk and Jump animations is Movement. The Priority for the Freefall and Idle animations is Idle.

Now, the animations work fine, but the problem is that the fadetimes/transitions are really inconsistent and sometimes just plain ugly, so i want to get rid of all of it completely. I’ve tried setting all the fadetimes of all the :Play() and :Stop() lines in the script to 0, replacing all the transitionTime lines with 0, asking the AI assistant, looking around the DevForum, using other Animate scripts made by other people, setting all the animation priorities to Core, playing around with the weights, but the problem still continues. Any ideas as to how i could permanently fix this? I’m honestly confused.

Here’s the Animate script (R15):

-- humanoidAnimateR15Moods.lua

local pose = "Standing"

maybe is it:

function playAnimation(animName, transitionTime, humanoid)
	local idx = rollAnimation(animName)
	local anim = animTable[animName][idx].anim

	switchToAnim(anim, animName, transitionTime, humanoid)
	currentlyPlayingEmote = false
end

try do it:

function playAnimation(animName, transitionTime, humanoid)
	transitionTime = 0
	local idx = rollAnimation(animName)
	local anim = animTable[animName][idx].anim

	switchToAnim(anim, animName, transitionTime, humanoid)
	currentlyPlayingEmote = false
end

Thanks, that solved it for all the animations, except the fall animation, it seems. Some animations still transition into the Fall animation for some reason? Despite the fact that they have fadetime set to 0 for both :Play() and :Stop(). Also, when i hold jump while not moving, the jump animation acts very weird as shown in the video.

From what I can see, the normal jump is being cut off as it should, but the jump and fall animations are quite similar, so it’s not very noticeable.

As for that super jump you’re seeing, it’s likely caused by other animations that aren’t handled by this script. Remember what I mentioned about the FXController (or the animation controller you’re using). If I recall correctly, it could has a fadeout effect. I’d recommend disabling it and checking if that fixes the issue.

I actually simply just checked if the player was doing a certain action like Bolting or Tramping, and if he is, then don’t change expressions.

--|Expression
local function ExpressionHandling()
    for _, Anim in Animator:GetPlayingAnimationTracks() do
        if Settings:GetAttribute("Hurting") == false and Anim.Name == "Animation1" or Anim.Name == "Animation2" and Settings:GetAttribute("Drifting") == false and Settings:GetAttribute("Bolting") == false and Settings:GetAttribute("Tramping") == false then
            Expressions:Swap("Happy", "Happy", "HappyClosed", "Idle")
        elseif Anim.Name == "WalkAnim" or Anim.Name == "RunAnim" and Settings:GetAttribute("Hurting") == false and Settings:GetAttribute("Drifting") == false and Settings:GetAttribute("Bolting") == false and Settings:GetAttribute("Tramping") == false then
            Expressions:Swap("Happy", "Happy", "HappyOpen", "Walk/Run")
        elseif Anim.Name == "JumpAnim" and Settings:GetAttribute("Hurting") == false and Settings:GetAttribute("Drifting") == false and Settings:GetAttribute("Bolting") == false and Settings:GetAttribute("Tramping") == false then
            Expressions:Swap("Happy", "Blink", "HappyClosed", "Jump")
        elseif Anim.Name == "FallAnim" and Settings:GetAttribute("Hurting") == false and Settings:GetAttribute("Drifting") == false and Settings:GetAttribute("Bolting") == false and Settings:GetAttribute("Tramping") == false then
            Expressions:Swap("Happy", "Down", "HappyClosed", "Fall")
        elseif Anim.Name == "Ring"  and Settings:GetAttribute("Hurting") == false or Settings:GetAttribute("Bolting") == true then
            Expressions:Swap("Surprised", "Happy", "HappyOpen", "Ring/Bolt")
        elseif Anim.Name == "Drift" and Settings:GetAttribute("Hurting") == false or Settings:GetAttribute("Drifting") == true then
            Expressions:Swap("Happy", "Down", "Curious", "Drift")
        elseif Anim.Name == "Tramp" and Settings:GetAttribute("Hurting") == false or Settings:GetAttribute("Tramping") == true then
            Expressions:Swap("Angry", "Blink", "AngryClosed", "Tramp")
        elseif Settings:GetAttribute("Hurting") == true then
            Expressions:Swap("Sad", "Sad", "BoredClosed", "Hurt")
        end
    end
end

Sorry, I think I didn’t understand you well. So, is your issue resolved? Because at first, you were talking about animations, and now you’re mentioning expressions.

And if you’re still talking about the animations, I was referring to the script controlling the animation changes. Most likely, those have some kind of fade in / fade out effect.

Oh sorry, i meant that in the end for the whole Expression/Fall Animation thing, i ended up not using the FXController and simply using attributes to check if the player was, for example, drifting.

so you don’t have any script that activates the other animations? because the default roblox animation script does not handle the animations you have shown. So another script that triggers those animations must be using a fade on your animations so you see a transition.

Bump, help still needed with this issue
