How to deform rigged meshes with a script?

I have a line that is rigged up to be deformable. It works in the animation editor but I can’t manage to get it to deform when I change the position/orientation of the bones with a script. I got it to work once but then I deleted it for some reason

I think I have it working. The issue was that I didn’t have an Animator inside the AnimationController

It was because I was renaming the bones
