How to delay an elseif statement

so basically i have an if statement like this

x = 6

if x == 5 then
    print("eee")
elseif x == 6 then
    print("a")
end

and all i want to do is make it wait before checking that x == 6, i want to make it wait before checking the elseif

    if x == 6 then
