Hey,
I’m making a pretty basic constant-warfare team battle game that involves digging and building. In many other games with a similar premise (notably Scorched Earth), many people resort to fighting underground.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the idea of tunnel warfare, and I enjoy games that incorporate it, but that’s not what I want to make.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
A weird but perhaps good idea would be to make a integrity system of sorts. This would require a voxel grid though. The more blocks player dig out, the lower the integrity of the tunnel. With a chance that the entirety collapses. (Basically the changes get undone) Killing the player.

Well he wants digging but not tunneling so there have to be compromises.

You could also just limit how deep people can dig. So tunneling is impossible.
