How to Ensure Custom Modeled Clothes Move with Animated Skinned Mesh - Similar to 'Dress to Impress

I’m looking for help on making sure custom modeled clothes move correctly with an animated skinned mesh. A perfect example of what I mean is how the game “Dress to Impress” handles clothing that moves seamlessly with body parts.

  1. Is this the same approach as layered clothing, or is there something more to it?
  2. Is weight painting required for this?

Essentially, I want to understand how to ensure clothes move with the body, just like in “Dress to Impress.”
