I have a custom rig that I will end up using as an enemy that players will fight.
BTW I changed the problem:
I cant get the default Animate script that is used when a player joins a game and it is in your character to work with it.
I have a custom rig that I will end up using as an enemy that players will fight.
The humanoid and animator inside of it is what is making it walk i believe. do you already have one inside it?
I rewrote the question a bit beter. It is a mesh/bone rig and has an animator inside the humanoid and has the default animation script (i put custom animations in it to work for the rig).

Make the script a server script.
Copy and paste all of the code into a server script named âAnimateâ (just like the local script), then copy and paste all of the children of the local script into the server script, then delete the local script because itâs useless
You should get an error on line 500 something, but thatâs for chat emotes. You can delete that entire chunk of code
But I would assume this is going into StarterPlayer since itâs named âStarterCharacterâ.
In that case, do not do that. Just copy the script into âStarterCharacterScriptsâ and delete the script out of the model.
If it isnât going to be the starter character (i.e. itâs going to be an NPC or AI), then follow my original steps.
You could try the following steps to resolve this issue:
Ensure the script is correctly attached to the character.
Make sure the animation controller is properly configured and the animations are correctly mapped to the parameters.
Check if the correct animator component is referenced in the script.
Verify that the script is being called at the right time in the player join sequence.
Try creating a new animator component and re-assigning it in the script.
Ok, iâm not getting a ton of errors anymore (except for the one on line 500ish) but the idle animation still isnât playing. I also tried walktopart but it didnât work, and for fun I tried it as a starter player (itâs going to be a npc eventualy but I figured if it works in starter player, it will work as a npc) but it didnât work.
Can you show me everything wrong? Like, every error youâre getting?
Video:
https://www.xbox.com/play/media/EVSDKSAHJN
This is the only error:
Infinite yield possible on âStarterPlayer.StarterCharacterScripts:WaitForChild(âHumanoidâ)â
At least the idle animation works.
Can you show the the code in the script (and specify which line the error is caused on)

Here is the error (it really is a warning):
16:17:09.739 Infinite yield possible on âStarterPlayer.StarterCharacterScripts:WaitForChild(âHumanoidâ)â - Studio
I assume itâs from the humanoid variable at the top. The script would be referring to âStarterCharacterScriptsâ as the parent of the script (since that is where it is located when running the game). All you should need to do is separate the variableâs data into an if statement to check if itâs the playerâs character. Like this:
local Humanoid
if character:IsA("Model") and game:GetService("Players"):GetPlayerFromCharacter(character) then
Humanoid = character:WaitForChild("Humanoid")
else
warn(character.Parent.Name) --// Should return "StarterCharacterScripts" since the parent of the LocalScript before running studio is StarterPlayer.StarterCharacterScripts
return
end
Ok, I have done that. Now lines 1-40 look like this:
local Character = script.Parent
local Humanoid
if Character:IsA("Model") and game:GetService("Players"):GetPlayerFromCharacter(Character) then
Humanoid = Character:WaitForChild("Humanoid")
else
warn(Character.Parent.Name) --// Should return "StarterCharacterScripts" since the parent of the LocalScript before running studio is StarterPlayer.StarterCharacterScripts
return
end
local pose = "Standing"

end)
userEmoteToRunThresholdChange = success and value
end
local userPlayEmoteByIdAnimTrackReturn do
local success, value = pcall(function()

end)
userPlayEmoteByIdAnimTrackReturn = success and value

But my camera still dosent follow the character and I cant controll it. The character does spawn and play the idle animation. I also noticed that even though my camera isnt working, I can still move it arround and when I zoom in all the way, the character dissapears which is neat.
In summary:
My camera dosent follow the character and I cant controll it.
Everything else is working though.
Maybe try reverting back to the original code and putting the script inside of the character instead? I canât remember if that is where we started lol
I tried that already and go the same resaults
Can you send me the place file? I canât really think of anything else that could be wrong with the script. Maybe deep diving into the entire place will help
IDK.rbxl (254.9 KB)
Ignore the other stuff. Ive just been using this place for expirimentig with some concepts for my game.
Your biggest issue is the fact the HumanoidRootPart is named âRootPartâ.
Thatâs why you canât move the character and why the camera wonât follow it. When making custom rigs, the root part must be named exactly âHumanoidRootPartâ. The capitalization and spelling is important.
The animations wonât load for me personally, but that could be for multiple reasons. For now, change the name of RootPart
to HumanoidRootPart
, and change out the two variables at the top of the animate script to this:
local Player = game:GetService("Players").LocalPlayer
local Character = Player.Character or Player.CharacterAdded:Wait()
local Humanoid = Character:WaitForChild("Humanoid")
Iâm not exactly sure how bone animations work since I donât use them, but when I opened the animator it looked the same. Make sure your AnimationPriority
in the animations is set to Movement
.
This could also be causing them not to play.
There are also many other things wrong, but I will be unable to help with those as I do not have the time available for a very long while.
Thank you so much for helping me!
Also if you want him to walk, set AutomaticScaling to false and hip hight to 0.05
