How to get my game popular

asking here on the devforum was really my last hope, i would have never asked here if i’m not that upset

Well, i made a simple game in roblox, gave it a nice name for the SEO “Villain Among Us”, I spend countless hours adding new features and making the gameplay look as smooth and polish as possible, I spend many hours designing the GUI, but at the end no one ever found out the game

So i got an idea, play random games which I have good stuff at like TDS, help people in this game’s event so they get valuable stuff easier, i invite them to my game, well it worked, i got almost 500 visits from this.
I thought this will help the game start, but figured out that actually only those “Friends” and “Friends of Friends” who played the game, one month later and the situation is as it is, no new random player ever joined the game, and if i’m not playing the game no one is

So i thought maybe it’s an issue with the gameplay, i started to work on the visual and audio feedbacks more, weapons are now more smooth to use, added gears and shop, new gamemodes like infection, boss fight, traitor, but still nothing

So a single player gamemode? I started to script some bots and botsRound and after round ends a popup show asking player to invite a friend, after this update i found some “Friends” starting to play the game alone, but after all this still didn’t change anything, no new random person is playing

I have a youtube channel with 730 subs about Arabic coding courses in web development, so i thought maybe i could use it, i started to work on a trailer video and uploaded it there, i tried to make it as SEO optimized as possible, then was very tired and went to sleep, i was hoping i would get one of those overnight success story but no, waked up with only 14 views, the worst performing video ever on my channel Villain Among Us Trial Video - Roblox Murder Mystery alternate - YouTube the trailer video failed miserably, i never felt that upset before

You can say it’s the Roblox’s Town Of Us version, but more pvp, Villain Among Us - Roblox

I’m not using the devforum to get views to my game, i’m really seeking for help from experienced people here i just put the game link so i can get feedbacks

Well, i would recommend you to advertise the game as much as possible, but if you don’t possess enough robux then you should try to make the game as much appealing as possible when looking from the “outside view” (perhaps adding a good thumbnail) since people who don’t join your game can’t actually tell if it is worth playing or not.
Perhaps people don’t play it because they want something new and completely original but who knows it can be something else.
Its very sad indeed to be willing to spent your time and patience on something and people just don’t give it the due value.

Btw if you choose to advertise your game, then i suggest you spend your robux on different adds instead of one single add.

I didn’t say it’s not original, well i should have made it clearer in the post that it’s not a copy paste of any game
The only common thing between it and town of us is that each player have a unique role whether hero or villain, other than that nothing similar, unique tools, unique roles, unique gameplay, unique gears from the shop
idk about advertising to be honest, i lost many money advertising failed projects before

As JD222324 said, the best way to get player count is to advertise. This, unfortunately, costs a decent amount of robux. If you are short on Robux, you can either:

  • Find an investor
  • Do work for other people to get paid in Robux, which you can reinvest.

I don’t have much experience in the investor side of things, however for the 2nd option I posted, I tend to use the HiddenDevs discord server. You can get paid for building, scripting, making ui… all sorts of things.

Check it out andd see if any of the tasks are suited to you!

I tried the game and here’s what I think.

It’s not bad, I think it’s a pretty decent and well coded game. I like the concept but here are a few parts I think you should improve.

One major part I really disliked was how the bots spawned. The minute the round starts a mob of 20 bots swarms you and there’s not much you can really do because they surround you which makes it really difficult to really do anything. I would recommend having them spawn slowly and in different areas rather than all at once.

Another thing is I was able to see the spawn area from the haunted house (I think its supposed to be a haunted house) map which really made the game feel almost “unprofessional”. But that should be an easy fix (just move the spawn further away).

But other then that I think the games well designed, just try the methods mentioned in other replies and I honestly think your game will do pretty well. I’ve seen games with way less effort put into it become big.

Thanks alot for the suggestions, I did them both and i think now i will go with poppy’s suggestion, time for some freelancing btw they are 8 bots only

Thanks alot, i never done advertising in roblox before so i just have a little question, how much robux you think i should spend? and should i spend alot amount one day or small amounts for like a week? is sponsor experience better or the banner ads?

Generally I do a semilarge amount of robux (around 3k) every week or so, so that the algorithm recommends my games to more people!
