As you can see the shadow are quite sharp on this hair piece, I’ve already tried right clicking and clicked smooth shading however there were no changes whatsoever. What can I do?
Im no blender expert but I believe those “sharp shadows” are caused by the low poly geometry of the hair instead of the lighting. Try smoothing the hair mesh with auto smooth in blender and see if you get better results.
Just right click on the selected object and and click on “Shade smooth”
Did you even read what I said on my post?
Apparently auto smooth is already on, hmm.
oh those, go to render settings > shadows and adjust the light threshold. either from there or the lighting settings.
That just makes my light insanely bright or very dark, doesn’t change the sharp shadow.
Then try this, Make the light source away from the character while also adding more power to it. that usually works to smooth out shadows
I just ended up increasing the subsurface on the hair, it seemed to mask out most of the sharp shadows.
Before you do that, try this: go into edit mode, select all vertices, and click Vertex>Merge Vertices>By Distance. I have had this issue before when trying to use smooth shading on a hat from the catalog, and the issue was that each individual face had no shared vertices with other faces. Smooth shading won’t work if none of the faces are connected. Not sure if this happens when the mesh is uploaded to Roblox or what, but give that fix a try and see if it helps.
Have you tried going to edit mode and seeing whether those edges are colored a neon blue? If they are, those edges are marked sharp. Right click in edge selection mode and select “Clear Sharp”.
If not, then press A to select all geometry and right click in Vertex selection mode and select “Merge by Distance”
Oh thanks this solved my problem with this!
