How to get started as a beginner graphic designer!

Who am I?

I am Glo, I have been a graphic designer for about 2 years now.

I decided to start with graphics, what do I do now?

  • Do not rush to commissions

First learn how to make good GFXs for a month or so and become good at them then commission people for it.

  • You do not need expensive programs

If you are starting off as a new designer, you can use online tools like pixlr or photopea. You can also use programs like GIMP and find more on Google. When you become good at it, then invest in more expensive programs such as Photoshop if you can.

  • Get inspiration from other designers

If you are a beginner or an advanced designer, you should draw inspiration from others. I have a whole file named inspirations, when I go to when I want to practice logos etc, but do not just copy or steal others works.

What if I become demotivated to continue?

I just stop and take a break for a day or two and scroll through other people’s works, this always gets me motivated. Sometimes I come back to graphics after weeks.

How to commission people?

I think many people have talked about this so I will not explain it too much.

  • Make a commission sheet

  • Have lots of socials and be active on them.

  • Make sure to price it well, not too high or low.

  • Make a portfolio, in devforum.

  • I also suggest joining different discord developer servers but be careful for scams.

  • Make slots so that you don’t pressure yourself, like I keep a 2 slots , so that I can do them and not rush myself.

  • You can say no to orders, if you do not like a commission you can decline it.

  • Increase your relevancy in the roblox developer community.
