How to get the decal id of an image?

When I put a decal on a part and paste in the decal’s ID, the decal object immediately converts it into an image id, one which is different from the decal id.

Is there any way to find out the decal id again?

there is only one ID for images excluding the marketplace ID. do you want the marketplace ID?

When you paste a decals URL ID into the image box, Roblox converts it to the actual images ID.

If you check using the decal id it said ‘Decal’ under type. That’s the id I want, as whenever studio converts it to the image id and you input that, you get ‘Image’ under type, which I am not looking for

Huh. that’s interesting.

On the web page there sohuld be a dropdown, and you can find “copy texture ID”
click on that and see if it gives you the decal’s ID and not an image’s Id

Asset ID gives me the decal ID.
Texture ID gives me the image ID

From the Decal page you can go either way, but as soon as you’ve pasted the Decal or Image ID in studio, you essentially lose the decal ID, which the image page doesn’t allow you to get :frowning:

Is there reason you need it to be the decal’s Id and not image’s Id?

I love favouriting stuff to check back later, but when I favourite an image, I somehow have no way of finding them back
Favorites only show your favourited ‘decals’, which eh… those favourited images don’t count for.

Oh, and when I wish to add someone else’s texture to my inventory there is no way to do so, as you cannot get images – only decals! So any decal I added a while ago which ID was changed to an image ID, I can never find back again.

And the fact that there’s many ‘how to get the image of a decal’ posts, which is the most basic thing ever when you have studio as these days it automatically converts them, but there’s no posts or guides to go the other way around, which starts to interest me more and more now too.
