How to go about making music?

If I want to make music for my game, would I make sound fonts of existing music or make my own? And if I’d make my own what programs could I use for it?

There’s a lot of free copyrighted music in the toolbox or another online source for your games that you can find. But in my opinion, it would be better if you can make your own music for your game to avoid copyrights, and it can also be the game’s signature music.

If you’re just starting out or just want to learn the basic of music production, There’s a few software you can use. Bandlab is personally my favorite since it’s completely free, has a decent amount of instruments and mixers, and it’s a website DAW. Meaning you don’t have to download it on your system. However if you want more, you can consider any other professional DAWs like Ableton live, Logic pro, FL studio, Cubase, etc. These DAWs are used by many big artist and producers around the world. Yes, they cost money but some of them does offer a free trial.

Anyways good luck making music for your game!
