How to handle mass amounts of Ragdolls?

Hello,

I’m making a hack-&-slash type game with loads of enemies and I made it so when you kill them they ragdoll. Although, at times you can be killing up to hundreds of enemies and all the ragdolls are happening on the SERVER. I’ve heard it’s bad to handle the ragdolls on the server, but I’ve also been told no other game handles ragdolls elsewhere than the server.

I was wondering what is an effective way I am able to handle ragdolls with tons of enemies without causing lag. There is not a ton of lag happening right now but you can tell there are some performance issues. Thanks!

Where exactly are you getting your information from?

In Halo even ragdolls are handled on the client. They acknowledge it is expensive to network it so they just sync the intial states of the ragdoll.

To be honest got it from a seriously unreliable source. Just a friend LOL. Sorry should’ve made that clear :man_facepalming:
