How to keep people entertained with my game?

Hello Devforum! I am Cam, and what I am seeking is a solution or ideas to why my game is not played and my group is not gaining members, and how to change that.

Now I started this group (Studio Cafe) about two years ago. It was during the pandemic when quarantine was large and I figured I could capitalize on the opportunity. Basically very long back story short, my and my friend started the group with me putting in just over 20k Robux to date. I’ve invested around 6k in startup and ads of the game, spent another 5k for food models for the V2 that we are working on, and around 9k on ads for the current game. I’ve had success prior with the group whereas we had 30 people in game at a time, but my group has only grown to 100 members and now with the update of my game we no longer have active players. Your opinions and possible solutions for this would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve tried a few solutions to date:

  • Updating the game. (Reducing all the free models that were in the original.)
  • Working on a V2.
  • Creating a discord server.
  • Advertising.
  • New logo.

Now I think my problem has been the game being bad and the lack of active staff and players which could be the result of a bad game?

Around 4 months ago I purged all MR-SHR staff after the entirety of my HR team resigned…

Again, you opinions and solutions on this are greatly appreciated on how I can gain more members and revive my group!

Thank you,
Cam

And also what would keep players in my game longer?

I did not specify but as of current I AM NOT doing this for revenue at the moment. I largely want to establish a community first.

(Also sorry for the horrible typing, on mobile rn.)

(Sorry if I get things wrong here, but by your groups name I assume you’ve made a cafe game)

Well, most cafe games don’t get successful on roblox because why would they play your cafe game when the other one they’ve been playing for months is already a thing and also nearly identical to yours from a gameplay standpoint?

:man_shrugging:
Cafe games aren’t fun for me, I just play them to use roblox bugs to get where I am not supposed to to make everyone, including the game admins confused.

That is where I am at the moment. But really my question is what would keep YOU or the player base in game more?

Sadly a vibe cafe is not really something I can develop with my team at the moment. I do like the interactive games idea…

Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

Please dont take this the wrong way but having cafe/boba/any roplay cooking/servering players its all repetitive so if you bring something new to the table like for example theres a vibe game that has pool tables and donation but bring that kind of ideas to the table using the games like possibly table checkers or connect 4 or chess like small stuff there for its not like oh i walk up order i get my items the servers make and thats it as welcome to so and so hows your day what you want like theres so many cafe games that to me i feel like its being over saturated and having those interactive games gives something new to those aspects where its not just the workers doing something its also giving the players something new that those others games did not have or thought of oh lets add this or that most is just have it setup then they die off but yeah do some type of games if can even if you mix the building style up just as a idea i have not played a game where its theamed like retro style so just tossing that out there for ya too

Yep. That seems like a good idea that I might try to implement. As I understand, yes cafe games are not the most popular nowadays but building a community is really something I’m trying to focus on.

start small get the main stuff done first then bring what you and the team intend to bring to the table try diffrent things even go to the extent of asking players what would they want to see in the game and i get it cant please everyone your going to have people upset and mad becuse they cant get what they want in the game then you have the other 50% who will the game for what it is

And that’s back to the original question: How to grow my community or make it more active.

I have no one to ask due out of the 105 group members I have on 5 are in the discord server. Of which all of them being an SHR+.

id say once you get a good amount of players coming and going ask and see what they would like to see or what kind of changes that can be made or how they feel of what can be added to keep players coming back i see it both sides as a game dev myself i do assets ect but also as a player i would just suggest trying new things if you add something and it flops then you can try something els the next month or when ever you decide to update it its okay to try new stuff is it a risk sometimes then yea but gotta think sometimes taking those risk ends in good things to come once you get one good idea and it works out then your brain will steam roll with ideas to bring into the game
