I have seen some roblox games that somehow light up the sky (and clouds) when projectiles fly into it or when there is an explosion.
Here is that effect in War of the Worlds: https://gyazo.com/79476fdf4b548074d3b9543f270fb0ce
I accumed that they use a giant image or something, but that doesn’t explain why the clouds get more visible.
how i would do this is with a GIANT particle with light emision on 1 or more, that should account for both things.
(you may need a plugin to edit the particle past 10 size)
I tried it and it doesn’t seem to affect the sky very much. And how would I go about getting rid of this seam
Im not sure how they did this, but it could be a possible cylindrical part (or some other form) that wraps around the map/layer camera and changes transparency of it as the effect goes
Probably not how it works considering the fact the clouds get more visible and from the looks of it theres an actual radius where the further out in radius, the less the effect actually has on the sky
Transparency also wouldnt make it brighter so possibly something to do with reflectance or/and highlights? Not sure how though.
Ill try looking into it as im intrigued too
it appears they have some cleaver use of what iamge they use on it, but it should normally work.
what i have here is jsut a simple idea of it, not exactly how it works as it appars to be alot more advanced
glow.rbxm (3.8 KB)
joined the game, it appears that they used billbord guis and tweening, (the file is without any tweening)
but i THINK thats how they did it
Huh. Thats cool, i havent touched billboard guis yet. Didnt know they can cause cool effects like that
I was able to recreate the lighting effect but still got no idea how to resolve the seam issue
they didnt in game, they make it only trigger it if ur far away
