How to make a *good* lightsaber effect?

So i made this effect:

I made it by putting 2 trails in the saber, its ok and all, but it does look janky even if the trail is client sided, plus sometimes only the red part is shown and not the white. any tips on how to make this better?

I would like to see how the trail would look like as a forcefield texture
