I’m trying to make a good SCPF. Can anyone help me? With information and what each department is for and what I need to make a successful good SCPF Group?
What do I want to achieve?
A good and successful SCPF Group, I have all the funds 100k+ I just want some advice and tutorials.
What kind of help do I need?
I want to have a good understanding of how an SCPF Works and how departments work and, how each Rank works.
I’ve been in the SCPF Genre for years but, I forgot about everything I want to remember and bring back memories.
I would appreciate Youtube Videos that would help me to make an scpf group like how O5 Councils works and how the site director works what I need to have in the Site also what sites do I choose etc…
As an SCPF owner already, I have to tell you the truth. The genre is dying and it is disgustingly toxic. From leaking games, to infiltration by other Foundations. Its ridiculous and a cesspool of toxicity and pathetic excuses to admin abuse.
Spend your 100k Robux on something worthwhile in investing. Don’t waste it on this dying cesspool of a genre…
I should add that I’m not saying avoid it at all costs, but 75% of the genre is dedicated to general stupidity and most sites are unoriginal and copy others in some form. I’m saying you should put your 100k investment into something worthwhile that has a chance.
Yet another reply, it seems you don’t know much about the genre. I recommend before even trying to start a group, you deeply learn the lore and how things work rather than instantly jumping into the pool with no idea how to swim.
You don’t really need that much money for an SCPF, but it definitely helps with advertising. Buy your groups, ask a few friends if they’re able to help fill positions (you only really need department heads to start). Then start working on your game. When you’re close to release, start your advertising. Most new SCPFs die because they advertise too early, get hopeful and then people leave because nothing’s happening. Try doing something original, too. Refer to the SCP-wiki site, and avoid using any stolen assets.
It all mostly depends on you and your leader skills though, same as with starting any other kind of group.
If you’ve not been in the genre for a while, try joining some bigger SCPFs for a while and see how they work to refresh yourself
I recommend that you invest around 10k but not much more. If I was to be honest, your most likely not going to see much success in the scpf genre due to how oversaturated it is.
That exists already. Its called a roleplay site, and they sell teams as gamepasses to make easy profit but get looked down upon by veterans of the genre.
I’ve seen some sites that let you actually progress and unlock teams by playing though. Also the cashgrab sites can be fun too, I remember I had lots of fun in Area 113 for example.
So i can’t give you super many tips for the the lore and what departments to use etc. I’m more of a developer and i’ve made a couple of sites in my past and currently working on one rn so expect more tips on the development side.
Before anything obviously you need to set up a discord and try to gather an O5 council. I recommend trying to find a friend who is experienced in the genre. After you’ve found your O5-council i would start on the site as early as possible
Don’t take sites that are already in use
if you’re going to buy one make sure it’s unique (might work with an already existing site but you have a higher chance of suceeding if it’s custom in my opinion)
To me the hardest part is the beginning, actually getting an idea and a feel for the style i’m going for. I would highley recommend either making a couple of hallway designs or make the entranance or the CDC. If you’re completely blank you can look at refrences. I often get the feeling that people think it’s “bad” in a way but it really isn’t. As long as you don’t directly copy it you should be fine.
I would recommend not making a “maze site” as i call them.
A maze site is just a place filled with corridors going all over the place. Try to make it with more scale and variety, maze sites are so common and they often get boring real quick (in my opinion)
The fewer developers the better
I’m not saying overwork your developers
My point is don’t hire many builders, many scripters, animators etc to speed it up.
one good developer for each “role” is perfect and they won’t get in eachothers way and the style will be somewhat the same in the whole site. (that’s what i think at least, when i build with others they often get in my way and i often get in theirs because we don’t have the same idea on how stuff should look) (also i don’t know how it is with scripters and animators so don’t take my word in that area)
Let the developers take their time
Don’t rush them, don’t push them or they might end up quitting on you or the builds and scripts can be messy or bad. Perfection takes time
Pretty long, sorry about that
Well these are sometips i’ve gathered up in my time developing,
Honestly? ignore the people that are entirely telling you to avoid starting your own SCPF, I find it incredibly bitter for people to ruin an entire genre and group a select handful of groups that had negative experiences say the whole SCPF genre is bad. The SCPF genre is like every other genre on ROBLOX, military, police, jurrasic park stuff, you name it; also suffer from the same exact problems that the SCP genre has, it’s just a few old gens (like me who has been in the SCP genre for 7 years as sad as it sounds) like to be incredibly bitter about the genre and act like its the worst genre out there when that’s far from the case, these problems are not new to the SCPF genre but rather just mostly problems ROBLOX has always had since its incarnation. There are groups that do amazing stuff, but if you go looking for negative, bad experiences: you’ll find them.
For starting a group itself, the best thing I recommend is do it out of passion for the genre, not to become the next “big thing”, as that takes a lot of money. (I’d say most bigger groups have thousands of real-life dollars invested into them but also eternal funding from investors to fund development.)
If your looking to start the “next big thing” than that’s incredibly hard, and you’ll definitely need more than just a few robux to start that, however right now I’d advise you to focus right now the best course of action before starting a group is to have your facility built BEFORE you make the group “public”, often groups suffer from development hell and will often have people waiting around for the group to be announced which places pressure on development staff and often sets unrealistic expectations for the game to be amazing, at least be 90% done before making the group public.
For departmental HRs? it’s best to hire people you trust INCREDIBLY and have past experiences, these departmental directors and overseers can make or break your SCPF, so please be picky with your staff!
(Also yes I realise this was 3 years ago but it was irritating seeing the amount of people going "scpf genre BAD!1!, not saying its perfect, nor am I saying the SCPF genre is awful.)
