How to make avatar bundles using only Cube 3D AI 3D model generation

With Roblox Studio’s new updates you can now generate 3D models using the integrated AI assistant. I will show you how to use the “Cube 3D” and “Avatar Setup” to create bundles that validate and can be uploaded to the marketplace.

  1. Open Assistant. The button is in the upper right hand corner or can be under the “View” tab.

  2. WIthin Assistant type /generate and then your prompt. There are a few certain keywords you can use to consistently make a model that will validate as an avatar. Make sure the model is shaped as a humanoid. The next step is easier if your character is shaped as close to a human as possible.

Other descriptors like buff man help to assure the character is humanoid enough. Additonally try to describe your texture, for example with colors and a smile.

Example:

/generate humanoid smooth buff man robot with a blue and black texture and a big happy smile
  1. Your model will start to generate. It can take a couple minutes.

  2. Once your model has generated, the texture will start to generate. This can take a couple minutes too.

  3. When your model is done a blue “Insert” button will appear. Press it to place your soon-to-be avatar.

  4. It is likely your model is not the correct size. I have had a few times where it is and where it isnt. If your avatar is too big use Scale tool in the Home tab to resize it.

  5. You can insert another avatar as a reference. Under the Avatar tab there is a Rig Builder button. Place an rthro avatar as that is the scale we will be using later on.

  6. Once you have inserted your avatar and scaled it to be the right size, we can now make it a finalized upload-able bundle. Under the Avatar tab open the Avatar Setup. Make sure your model is selected. It will show up in the new window. Press the blue Set Up button.

  1. This tool will make your model into a “bundle”. A bundle is what avatars are called on the marketplace. They include 6 separate body parts and therefore are a bundle of multiple purchases at once in a sense. The auto setup tool creates these 6 body parts from your mesh and assigns them to the rig. This includes skinning and accessory points. This is handled on Roblox’s servers therefore it takes a couple minutes to complete.

  2. Once the progress bar is is full and the process is completed, the setup window will automatically change. Ideally it will go through all its checks, validate, and be ready to upload!

You change check the validation progress in the upper left hand corner of the set up window. First it will show a clock. After it runs all it’s checks it will hopefully show a green checkmark.

Unfortunately it is likely you wont immediately get a green checkmark. There are several errors I have regularly encountered with this process. Its possible you don’t get any, it’s random. Here is what some look like:

  1. Fix any errors. For these errors I was able to fix them by changing the body scale type from “Classic” to “ProportionsNormal” in every body part and scaling up the head a tiny bit. If you cant figure out how to fix the error, try making another model from the start. You can get it with trial and error.

  2. Double check the attachment points using the Attachment Tool. When the setup menu is open it is on the right of that window.

  3. Double check layered clothing cage. It can be edited, although considering how humanoid the body will be, the cage probably works fine by default.

Now all accessories should work! Try them out and make sure the animations look good.

  1. The last thing to do before uploading is to add a “Body Colors” instance. This might be automatically added to your bundle already but right now you have to create it. Hover over your model and press the + icon. Add a “Body Colors” instance.

  2. Now right click your model and press “Save to Roblox…”

A new window will appear. Select “Avatar Item” and “Body”.

It will validate your bundle one more time. More errors can show up on this part but hopefully do not. Once it says “Validation Successful” you can press Submit. It will ask you to confirm.

At the time of writing it costs 750 robux to upload a bundle. Afterward it will cost 2500 robux to publish the bundle.

If you chose to upload your bundle you can then use it in-game! It can take up to an hour for a bundle to be approved by moderation in my experience. You can use your own bundle without publishing, but no one else can buy it unless you pay the 2500.

Congratulations you learned how to apply Cube 3D and Avatar Setup to create your own avatar bundle.

I urge you to try and think of creative ways this can be used! I don’t believe cube 3D is capable of making very high quality bundles right now. They don’t have purposeful topology and the entire body is on only one texture so it can look low resolution. The limbs are not capped either which can create some transparent cracks where the limbs connect.

Regardless I believe this is only the beginning! These issues can concievably be fixed in the future. Alternatively you can export the mesh, make necessary fixes, and reimport. Maybe cube 3d is only part of the right workflow.

If you have any good recommendations for prompts that work as avatars, let me know with a reply
