How to make custom textures/ decals?

Hi y’all, straight to the point how to make textures like this:

I know how to make this model in blender but have no idea how to make these textures, I tried searching through the dev forum but I only found this:


which is difinetely not how is this is created (I think). So, what’s the actual way of making these textures or whatever it is called?

If you want to make textures like that on models, I would recommend learning Substance Painter. It’s a bit expensive and takes a bit of getting used to, but you can just buy it on steam if you don’t want to deal with a subscription for it, and there are loads of tutorials and documentation online for it.

Its really really good but mann, its not bit expensive it cost alot of money more than my expectation, would be great if there was a free software cuz I cant afford it.

You could probably find a free or cheaper alternative to it, or yknow, (1800s sea shanty starts playing)

Alr thanks for your help, imma just use Quixel Mixer I think its also really good.

I don’t advise you to use it because all assets are designed for Unreal Engine, and for Roblox they officially banned the use of assets. Sorry, maybe I’m wrong and using the mixer itself is possible. just using ready-made assets from the site is prohibited.

but it is better to be careful when using Quixel resources. If I’m wrong then correct me…

Dang, I just searched for it and yeah its probably exclusive for unreal engine, then can I use armour paint or is it also exclusive to somethin? if there are any better software than armour paint (for free and not exclusive to somethin) then please tell me.

Try Poly Haven, for example, it has a lot of textures and doesn’t require a tedious license.
