I don’t know how to do this exactly, but they are using beams. I’d suggest finding a tutorial online.

with beams, you just make 2 half circle beams and make the texture a transparency gradient
you can also do it another way by making an inverted normals cylinder in blender (or find from toolbox) and pasting 4 images on its sides with the transparency texture like this
