How to make low poly tree in blender 2.81a I Beginner Tutorial

Hello,

I’ve been learning to model in a blender for some time. I know that for some people, blender is a very easy to learn program. However, some may have a problem with it. That’s why I’m writing this post to teach future modelers how to make a low poly tree. If you are interested in this tutorial and want to do what it contains, you must download a blender.
Here you can do this: Download — blender.org

Sometimes I have different names than in English because I use Polish in a blender. It is a pity that the whole blender has not been translated into Polish.

:exclamation:Warning:

If the shortcuts I use do not work, you have different preferences set.

If you want to change preferences just need to go Edit —> Preferences —> And you just need to find a keybind which you want change.

So let’s get to the tutorial.

Step 1:

So let’s open blender

My blender version v2.81a

You can see your version here:

Step 2:

Open new file “General”

Step 3:

:exclamation:If you no changed any preferences in blender click x and click delete the cube.

Step 4:

Add a plane

Step 5:

Click Tab on your keyboard. In edit mode select three Vertices.

Step 6:

After select vertices click right mouse button and then click delete vertices.

Step 7:

Now select the last one vertice

Step 8:

Okay now we need to add something. What we need to add?

Modifiers

So click this icon

And then click Add Modifier

Step 9:

Add two modifiers:

Step 10:

You should get this effect

Then go to other view mode. So click number 3 on numpad

You should get this view. Then click G on keyboard and drag a piece to the centre.

Step 11:

Now it’s time to modeling. Congrats to you if you reached this step!

Also it’s time to use tools

I love modeling .

Choose this tool and stay at the current view.

Step 12:

Use this for drag view. Drag element to down.

Remember and make sure to check if you are performing an operation on the z axis.
Check it there:

Step 13:

Choose the tool i talked previously. Click on the plus and drag the element up.

Time to see the video!

:memo:You can determine the height that is best for you. Your element doesn’t have to be exactly as tall as mine.

Step 14:

We already have the trunk of our tree but we don’t have branches. Also, the trunk is not perfect. Let’s make him a bit better

How to make this? Let’s see this video

To scale the trunk or branch, use ctrl A.

If you want to add sclae point use this tool:

image

Step 15:

You know how to use the two tools so let’s go to the next video.

Now it’s look so bad. But don’t worry! It’s not end

Step 16:

Now we need correct something.

Always use the tools I was talking about and keyboard shortcuts.
image
Instead of this tool you can use ctrl R: D

Video is to big so I paste a link to the vide here: video5 - YouTube

Step 17:

Now we can close the edit mode and then add a material.

Change the color to brown

image

Step 18:

Yeah! You need to do last few steps!

So we need to add leafs! Let’s do this!

Add Ico Sphere
image

So let’s move Ico sphere! To scale it you can use S on your keyboard.

image

Step 20:

Now you need to duplicate some Ico Sphere and move this to create amazing leafs!. To do this you just need to click Shift + D

So cool!
image

Step 21:

You need color the leafs! Do it the same as for the trunk and branches!

The last step!

Step 22:

image

Now that you’ve chosen the color you probably don’t want to do exactly the same with every element!

But I have a way! Name the material “Leafs”.
image
image

Now Select Select all un-colored leaves and finally the one with Leafs material. Click ctrl L and then select material and choose Leafs.

Done! You do this! You complete my tutorial and now you know how to create low poly tree in blender!

Nice tutorial. For someone who is new to blender like myself, it’s easy to follow and it should help them (and me).

I know the person following it can change the colours, but I feel that the grass is too bright that you set it as in the pictures. Like I said, I know people following this tutorial can darken it themselves.

Well done. I look forward to following this one evening.
