How to make players comeback to your game?

Last year I released a game
I advertised it and have 10 players everyday for a week
only for a week though then after that the game completely died.

Since im going to release a game maybe around the next two month or more, i’ll be advertising the game.

Any tips on making a player stay for as long as possible?

so i just need to constantly update and put ads every once in a while?

Yes. You should also be sure the progress of the players is saved, while you should also add quests and badges.

There are two main points I’d like to address here. If your game is failing to maintain concurrent players then it may because the game itself needs work. There’s a possibility that players aren’t interested for long, thus it dies out. I have no context on what your game is actually about so I can’t provide any specific advice, but test it yourself or with a bunch of friends and see if it’s enjoyable, captivating, is there any reason to come back? Perhaps you might want to make it more competitive, add in a daily reward streak, and such.

The second point is ads. Sponsors and ads are a great way to grow your game and reach out to a bigger audience. You don’t need to spend anything crazy on ads, just how much you believe you should. I heard that advertising on mobile is significantly more helpful then advertising on other devices, but I’m not sure if that’s a myth. So yeah, ads are really helpful. Another thing is to advertise your game on social media so more people can find out about it. It’s also helpful to provide a place to get in touch with the developer, for example a discord server.

Badges may bring more players to your game, and some players will come back if there are some hard or rare badges. I’d make some, but it really depends on the game type.

Here’s my advice:

  1. I’d suggest joining a server where players are and asking for any feedback on how to improve the game. (Or even create a group where they can join and give you feedback.)

  2. Come up with unique ideas. ( Come up with new ideas that you think would best fit your game and try not to do the same thing other developers are doing. )

  3. Advertise your game with a billboard that will hook the user to clicking.

  4. Stay motivated and look for strategies that may help keep your visitors engaged in the game.

I hope this was helpful! :slightly_smiling_face:

I suggest making your game super interesting so they’ll come back and play for more. Tell them to press the ‘Follow’ button because they will receive the latest news on your game. Also, like you are already doing, advertise.

Hope this helps!

Add a surprise to it, something randomized to make players come back. This is a huge reason story games are never played again.

I’ve answered a question similar to this consider using the search function as this has been brought up rifts.

Keeping players in your game or wanting to come back is because you don’t have something that’ll keep them i longer then a few minutes, add things that’s worth playing. If you don’t have anything that’s enjoyable, to the players to do or worth continue playing; that may be the reason why player base only gains a lower player count. You just have to add things, that’s worth continue playing if your game is enjoyable then players will want to spend more time (e.g. add things like quest, daily rewards, challenges,) things to keep players entertained, find ways to make those players worth coming back to continue playing your game.
