How can I keep players playing my game?

Hey guys, Ive been working on a game recently thats basically papas donutria with a work at a pizza place vibe to it. I could use some help on ideas on how to keep players playing my game and keep players coming back. This is my first game Ive created with just me and my scripting partner. Ive thought of making players work towards getting cool cosmetics like pets but that doesnt really fit in a donut shop game. Any feedback is appreciated :grinning:

There are many ways to keep players playing your game if your game is unique - fun with an actual gameplay adding small options could make players coming back to achieve those items ā€œpetsā€ wont really interact players nor keep them playing your game longer add things like (quest, daily rewards, challenges, levels) things that are worth achieving. I can’t really still what game your trying to go for.

If your game features the same similar mechanics as work at a pizza place, I’ll try changing things up to be different from existing known games. In order for your game to get players or wanting them to stay in your game longer then a few minutes, you need something that will make them keep wanting to play your game and return back.

Make your game look attractive, and worth returning back if your game features a boring gameplay it wont gain new players nor worth continue playing longer. You just have to find different elements and things to interact players to continue playing.

Imo no retention ā€œtricksā€ will work if the core game-play is not fun.

Add as many updates as you can, the more updates the more people would like to play and see the update.

I will add quests and daily rewards and that but adding pets was just to appeal to kids as pets are something they appear to like right now while staying to the unique arcade style of working at a donut shop. We are also thinkin of changing the system to be like retail tycoon where you decide how well your shop does by controlling everything about it. You have some great points though thank you !

Just as a side note: Papa’s Pancakeria pulled pets off with ruining the experience, but they were free and were removed from later entries (Though they were keep in it’s mobile rereleases).

I was thinkin you cant bring pets inside

I can see the pets option coming into play, however it’ll more be attractive to sorting kids, including different ideas will have them returning back, perhaps events, free pets and more there are many factors you just don’t want to include that but make sure the game is fun and worth playing.

I don’t have a good understanding on what the actual gameplay will be or concept but it seems like you’re gathering different ideas from known games and trying to implement those in your game from my understanding, Correct me if I’m wrong.

While it’s nothing wrong with doing that if you add those mechanics and features make it different pets and quest, challenges, do work, add things to make players work for achieving sorting items you plan to reward them with.
