How to make realistic gold ore?

I am trying to create a gold ore with slate material, as looking at google images it really looks like the slate material in roblox, but i dont know how to make that sparkly-reflective effect that gold naturally has here is a video refference (17:21)

I tried to put on reflectance to 1, but nothing changed

I dont want to use metal/ice because it literally looks like an already refined gold bar

You can put a glass layer over the part to make it reflect when exposed to a light source.

You can change the transparency and color to give the effects of refined gold.

The lighting plays a big factor in the appearance but there are other ways to perfect this effect.

This is not what im looking for, i am trying to make the sparkly effect that gold has
The method you showed makes it look like there is some kind of varnish on it and also this kind of reflectance is not what im trying to accomplish

I think your trying to make all of it shiny, by doing that you would essentially be making it all neon, If you want to make it look more refined its shininess isn’ the biggest factor what you have already looks good, Id say you use a different material or find an online texture. Particles can also have a nice effect if used properly.

This isn’t the best example, but changing the look in different aspects can give it the same feeling image

I say you mess around with the transparency and use neon overlaps: image

Sorry if I couldn’t help this is the best I have got.

If you’re not releasing the game anytime soon then you can use SurfaceAppearance to have the ability to add roughness textures and height maps.

I don’t think you can achieve this type of detail on roblox studio. The only detail you can have is the reflection using normal maps.

SurfaceAppearance example:

To achieve this you would probably have to manually add tiny bits of glass material and set the reflectancy to the max.

Yeah, but im worried about the performance, I have never used this feature and i dont know how much memory usage will it take

There shouldn’t be that much of a noticeable impact, but you can’t judge on something before trying it out.

I recommend you try SurfaceAppearance with some free PBR textures from the internet and see if there are possible performances issues.

This is off topic, PM them instead.

As for the question, just turn on this setting:

I’m not an expert, but I think you could do something like this but with some glitter as a visual trick for the player:

Somewhat a glitter effect with 2D planes

So that it looks kinda like this when you turn your camera

Maybe this was not the kind of appearance you were looking for, scratch this.

:pencil2: +Also, have you already thought about creating a seamless animated texture to simulate the “sparkly effect” you want on different spots of the ore?

I am trying to make the glitter effect using the sun reflectance, because the game has day-night cycle and it would look weird with this kind of sparkling during the night
