How to make the hat move with the head | Help!

hi, this is probably an easy thing, but i’m new to animating, so:

  1. What do you want to achieve? i have a skinned mesh (torso and head together), that has an opening mouth, we can think of it like a muppet, and i want to add objects such as hair or other accessories to it, making them move with the upper side of the head (the one that moves).

  2. What is the issue? i tried welding the accessories to the torso/head but they won’t move, here’s an example:

Schermata 2022-12-10 alle 21.14.52

Schermata 2022-12-10 alle 21.22.45

as you can see the hat won’t move with the rest of the head.

  1. What solutions have you tried so far? since the eyes are detached from the rest of the body, and as a piece of the torso moves (the mouth) they will move completely, i think welding the hat to them will somehow work. i don’t know what weld is better tho, and i don’t even know if it will work.

thanks in advance, have a nice day

Make sure to use Motor6D’s to weld the santa hat to the character. Follow this: Head >Weld to> Hat. And make the hat Unanchored.

it doesn’t work :frowning: any other idea?

Move it however your moving the top of the head.

I guess I don’t understand why you can move one but not the other.

You could try using some rig editor plugin or just manually clone one of the bones and make it affect the hat. Haven’t tried this myself but it could work

it’s a skinned mesh, that’s why

how can i make the hat affected by the bone on studio? idk if it’s possible

Make the hat into an “Accessory” theres many tutorials that help you turn a handle into a Accessory. This will make the hat move eith the head like it’s a roblox hat.

Are you sure it will work with a skinned-mesh?

As long as it’s named “Handle” it will work.
