How to make this game idea interesting?

  1. What do you want to achieve? Keep it simple and clear!
I came up with an idea for a game. The basic idea around it is based off of the old TV show, “Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?” (If you haven’t heard of it, look it up on Youtube.) where a group of players go back in time to restore history after it’s been altered by a villain. The difference from the show is that they actually go out into the time period they’ve stopped at, and ask historical figures for clues.
  2. What is the issue? Include enough details if possible!
It doesn’t sound interesting enough to keep people playing. I know most people don’t appreciate educational roblox games, but this idea seems too good to pass up.
  3. What solutions have you thought of so far?
Having minigames in between historical segments, Puzzles that require cooperation to solve, prizes for getting the most points by the end of the game… that’s about it.

I don’t want to lose the history element of the game, I really think it’s a good idea to show how interesting history is.

The scope of this question is a bit much. I think your plan would benefit from thinking small. If this is supposed to be inspired by one of your favorite TV shows, then perhaps you should ask yourself: How does this show make me feel? How do I recreate this feeling in others?

For example, if I join a server of Phantom Forces, then, at the simplest click of the mouse, I am blessed with crispy audio and visual feedback. It makes me feel something. Or if I go to an EBR build I’m blown away at the sheer detail and worksmanship of it. The point isn’t to copy these specific examples. Different games have their own merits.

With this post (and your previous one) asking about minigames and whether or not people like educational games, it just seems like you’re trying to build the 2nd story of the house before you’ve made the foundation.
