I have being trying to make low poly gun models. But its hard, so i looked up some tutorial. The problem is thats all tutorials are blender 2.79 or lower, i have blender 2.8.
2.79 and 2.8 are near identical in modeling terms, but the UIs look a little different . The tutorials for 2.79 on YouTube should suit your needs exactly. I suggest going to the Blender documentation if the tutorial prompts you to hit a button you can’t find. Daniel Krafft and Imphenzia have great low poly weapon tutorials.
To start off, find a blueprint or side view of the weapon you want to model. Add it to your scene and make sure its on the x or z axis, so you can line everything up. Add a cube, extrude and pull edges to make your shape! It’s pretty simple but can be overwhelming if you are newer to Blender. Good luck!
From my understanding, there has been a few changes, but they’re almost similar it’s just the tools and interface have been updated:
A lot of things are the same in both versions it’s just they updated the interface and move things around while there might be many tutorials or ways to create guns there are still tutorials on how to get comfortable with the version you have. The only difference for most things is that the interface and buttons are in different places. Therefore any tutorials you find that are 2.79 or up can still be used to create certain models in your current version.
I’ll also consider looking at a few guides and similar tutorials to get the ropes of that specific version. The tools in the toolbar now have custom widgets, which make tools more easier. That being said, creating models always takes practice. I’ll consider viewing a few basic tutorials like the donut & mug just to get get comfortable with the version and tools (since your just starting out).
A few tutorials going into details and breaking down certain aspects I’ll consider doing your own little research
