Hello everyone. I’ve seen this question a few times on the forum, but I feel like the answers haven’t gone deep enough. I’m about to release a new game and I want some real advice based on true experience. Here’s the map showcase for my new game btw.
From 2021 to 2024, I worked on a project called Knights on Night. I tried many strategies to make it popular. I changed the thumbnails and icons with nearly every update, ran normal ads and sponsored ads and invested a good amount of money. I also ran events, listened to my small community’s feedback and pushed out updates very often. Still, my CCU stayed around 0-8, with a one time high of around 30 players. My group has 368 members, and server has 60 members (neither is very active). That’s about it. I made two more games but they weren’t good enough and were only single-player. (173 total visits)
I know part of success is luck, yet I’m convinced there’s more I can do beyond chance. This time, I plan to push myself harder than ever. If you have real marketing success on Roblox, I’d appreciate any tips you can share. How did you do it, and what made the biggest difference for you?
Thanks for reading. I hope someone sees this post and offers some insight.
What?? Dude your game [DESCRIPTION] - Roblox is absolutely amazing!! I’m the one that is going to ask you how you did it and built such a sophisticated map. With some of my ideas and coding skills you would probably take off into the wonderlands. I have 0 marketing skills though and that’s like the #1 thing because even just marketing your game in the state it is in would probably get more attention than if I helped give you ideas and did some coding for you. With that said, great job and I hope to hear back from you. You can DM if you prefer. I would be happy to talk about this further
Good marketing and engaging gameplay. (First one attracts, second one retains)
Try showcasing game clips on social media and updating your game based on current trends, make people want to share the video with their friends (i.e have something visually pleasing).
Also, I like the map but I would try to have the player spawn in a more open area with a clearer path to the objective (Probably going to be clarified with coding and UI later though).
I’ll go through this process too very soon, so good luck!
Marketing is my weak point tbh. What exactly should I be doing on social media? Should I post videos myself, or should I reach out to content creators?
I’m glad you liked it, but honestly I think that was my worst game in terms of gameplay and visuals from everything I’ve posted in here T-T (almost everything is from 2021). Also I just Dm’ed you!
Until someone like you stops making such meaningless posts - no way.
What answer are you trying to get by making this post? There is no magic answer that will help you. A game is first and foremost an analysis of the platform’s games market. Not to mention many other things.
If your game(s) are not “popular” enough(I don’t know what popularity means to you), then it is your fault as a developer. Probably your game(s) are poorly made or the platform’s audience is not interested in such things. This brings us back to point two of my answer.
I personally think you should make videos yourself. As with anything, you don’t know if it will be well received by your target audience. To save yourself money, make a couple things in game which you think would be cool to show off, then post said cool things online. If other people find the game as appealing as you, then you should see some natural growth
As you can see from my post, I’m not looking for a “magic answer” or anything like that. I’m trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong with my games. This is the Game Design Support category and I specifically need support related to marketing and engagement. That’s why I shared my games as well.
After so many updates and multiple games, I’ve only learned how to keep players engaged but marketing is where I’m stuck. That’s why I’m here just looking for others’ experiences so I can try different methods. I think it’s a right place for it.
