How to render animation?

Hi! I was just wondering, I wanted to make an animated intro for my channel in blender, but how do I render my animation? I made the animation, and rendered it as animation. It rendered, but it rendered as an image and not an animation. And after it rendered that image, it kept rendering the same image all day. Is this supposed to happen?

(Edit: Also, I can’t really send a video as I don’t have a screen recorder, nor do I have an editor to speed it up anyways.)
