How to Run Outdated Versions of Studio (tested on 0.628)

I’ll clarify later, though your help would be appreciated! I can’t adequately describe steps for patching file signatures right now.

Use a binary file editor and replace:

84 C0 75 7C 48 8D 8D 08 01 00 00 FF

with

84 C0 90 90 48 8D 8D 08 01 00 00 FF

Studio version 0.628:

Studio version 0.636 (current):

Why would you want to do this?

  1. Updates can take too long on a slow connection.
  2. Edge-case bugs which affect later versions of Studio.

Studio is internet-based, if you have a slow connection, working in Studio will already be painful

Do you have any examples?

  1. You can opt out of this
  2. Roblox will still use anything you upload to the site; downgrading won’t prevent that

True.

I don’t have any examples for specific bugs.

Most of what I do on Rōblox typically gets saved locally.

I don’t have slow internet personally.

Newer versions of Studio sometimes remove features which might be crucial for forwards compatibility with older versions of Rōblox clients.

The AI data policy popup can be disabled using these FFlags:

  • CAP1209EnableDataSharingUI4
  • CAP1544UseNewDataSharingRollout

If don’t already have it installed I recommend using the studio mod manager made by MaximumADHD, because I am more than certain Roblox will continue pushing popups like this.

Using studio mod manager will allow you to use the latest version of studio aswell

Thanks for notifying me! How did you discover those flags by the way?

Do know that these flags won’t exist forever.

PS: I do use the mod manager.

This looks like roblox from 2004

I was pretty upset when the popup first showed up so I searched DataSharing in this repo and tested the FFlags and then the popup went poof. I disabled both of the ones I found just in case (I don’t use any of the AI stuff so it doesn’t matter to me) and that was that.

Another gemerald from VisualPlugin! I will definitely be using this from now on, especially since they kicked me out of a build that worked fine:

Only for when I tried reinstalling and opening the new build of studio, was welcomed to this:
RobloxStudioBeta_npCinzP8Mb

I have to open this new version of Studio via Administrator to bypass this error, AND to even launch it every time I want to use it, now. Excellent design, guys. The player started needing admin all of a sudden a few months back, and now Studio wants to start doing it, too (It doesn’t even have Hyperion, whats the point?)

I will be going back to using v633, and if @alpharetzy2 provides the version that doesn’t have the docking system that constantly resets itself on launch (Happens to me too, btw), I’ll most likely be using that, too.

likely version 621 because meshofpaul said the new system is now enabled by v622+

When run even a single time with Administrator, it’ll be forever cursed with requiring it. It doesn’t actually need Administrator right now.

Rōblox Studio Mod Manager should have you covered.

Mod manager appears to have issues with Windows 7 for whatever reason that I can’t figure out whether it’s my PC settings or that CloneTrooper is just using some dependencies that can’t be fixed with VxKex. However, I am now on v633 (will switch to v621 when I find a download) and I deeply appreciate your findings.

You can examine the source code and derive the download URLs for yourself.

if you know what you’re doing, it’d take you less than an hour.

if you had a copy of a working v621 available, share it!
