How would I create an accurate looking Thermal Vision effect?

For one of my projects, I’m wanting to achieve a black and white thermal effect, as in the ones you’d see on attack drones, and gun scopes.

The effect I’m trying to achieve is something that looks similar to these:

As you can see, you can see details on their clothes, you can tell there’s a natural feel to the IR effect.

For my solution, I tried to use a color correction effect with lowest saturation:

as you can see, it doesn’t look as close, I had to use highlights for “hot” objects, and generally doesn’t look the way I want, you can’t see details in the fabric material, the sky is still somewhat lit up (notice it’s pitch black in that video).
How could I achieve an effect closer to the one in the images I provided?
I apologize if this is in the wrong category

You could try adding lights to the ‘hot’ parts then playing around with the bloom effect to increase the thermal radiance appearance. Although you may then need to turn off every other light source that is not also a heat source.
Not sure about keeping the details, the high saturation is washing everything out, perhaps increasing contrast.

Is this good enough? I’m really proud about this, I removed the highlight from the car and added a light to the engine area.
