How would I easily fill in this gap?

The best way would be to use blender, but since you don’t know how I suggest using unions and negates.

I did try this, then I would have to ask “How do I smooth these really messy parts”

You could try unioning it together, please note that unions are capable of corrupting.

True.
Negations then unioning them.
But I really feel like it would not be that good for performance.
