How would I go about building a waterpark?

Greetings, DevForum! I have made a post similar to this a couple months ago, you might’ve seen it, but I kind of gave up on the idea and I would like to go into it in more detail.

I have come up of an idea to build a tropical themed waterpark that would involve roleplay and would be integrated with group ranks. I have had a good look and has only really been done once, therefore it could be a great opportunity.

I am an amateur builder, so will be able to do that myself. If I do find the task interesting and continue with it, I would eventually hire other people.

My question is, how would I go about making it? Would it be best to come up with a plan first? Make the models that I wish to use first? Terrain or parts for the landscape? Food areas?

I would love to hear your thoughts on both the idea and how to pull it off. Thanks!

Edit: Also I am aiming for it to be pretty realistic, but not too part intensive that some devices cannot play.

For me, making the terrain is the best first step. It provides an idea of how you are going to lay out your park, what style of models to build, and how many of them to make. After that, work on building the models and animations. Lastly I would do the scripting, as it’s the hardest part, so if you feel down about how hard it is, remember all of your other hard work and it’s easier to keep going. But I guess you might hire others, so don’t worry about it.

It depends you could start planning everything out if your starting with the models you could put those to the side if you already have your layout and landscape ready.

It’ll be a good approach instead of making the models first and then go from there. Once creating your landscape layout it’ll be much easier because you could put items in there proper areas like for example (if your making a small city layout the road first and see, how many intersections it’ll have and then you’ll be able to place buildings in different corners and around that road layout you have. Starting with the models first is good creating the landscape is better so you’ll see what you want everything placed at.

Then once your layout with the landscape you could write a sort of layout down, on a piece of paper and then finish the entire layout and the overall building itself, If you need help selecting a perfect layout use an image or blueprint and add the small important details around different corners of the terrain.

Hi, I’d always start with the front entrance of a waterpark.

Siam Park

I presume you have heard of Siam Park?
I will enclose some images of that and a few others.

Step 1. Start with the entrance.

Step 2. Check out the birds eye view

Step 3. Vegetation and paths.
-Always wise to do vegetation and paths because as you see in the image there is an abundance of trees

Step 4. Lazy river.
-Maps out the whole park basically.

Step 5 - Wave pools.
-A popular places for people to gather as it’s covered in sunbeds.

Step 6 - Slides.
-Should always put these in near the end.

Step 7 - Restaurants, Toilets, Gift Shops and any other extras.

Step 8`- Car Park (Optional)

Obviously you wouldn’t need to follow the plans of Siam Park step by step but it’s an idea on how water parks begin. Good luck!
