How would one find investors if its banned here?

If I wanted to find an investor for an already / mostly completed game, where would I find it? I couldn’t find any discords and read on other posts that it was banned on the devforum due to scamming.

Also I don’t know if this is the right part of the forum or not, it just made the most sense to me to put it in game design support.

Pretty much you have discords, or any other community. You can also try to find an investor and contact them, instead of posting that you need one.

They’re banned here because you shouldn’t look for investors. Most of them hog the return percentage without bringing anything to you and it’s just like paying a loan you didn’t need to take out. There are other ways of warming money or ads and advertising like other social media or you can share your work in #help-and-feedback:cool-creations and see if that could help. If you really need an investor tho, please be careful with who you go.

If I had more funding for advertisement I wouldn’t need an investor, I can do commissions but my game could do so much better with a large advertisement budget. My game is also one of those games that will need ads constantly running (atleast when it launches) to keep players in the game. Its basically minigames and you can’t play that with only 1 person.

Thanks for your advice though, I didn’t necessarily want an investor I was just curious on how people even get them.

If you constantly need ads for a game to work and not because players come back organically, I do suggest redoing the game from scratch and try to take in as much opinions from others as you can. You’ll only end up wasting money and you’ll be unable to pay back the investor and that might get you in trouble.

I’m sure the game would be able to do fine by itself, but I can’t get it going with my small advertising budget. I did a run of one of my ads (500 robux, did a bit too much considering my budget was like 2000), and it did OK, 0.55% CTR and it got a decent amount of people to join the game too. The problem is, if the game is to be successful, it will need more than 2 people (minimum player count) at all times.

(heres a link to a post about the game, my explanation is really bad: Feedback on my round-based game?)

I really appreciate your advice though and I agree with you, getting an investor could end up being a very bad idea.

On top of the great info Koi has said and given,

Try to grow your game slowly and its community, it won’t become huge overnight but you might get lucky and the game can grow. If you do run an advert, best to be on the weekend or run a game sponsor.

I would also check out your monetisation plan, i joined and examined the game and the only sources of income I saw was the donation board and purchasing gems. Could look at examples of Murder Mystery games or FPS games and see what game passes they provide, whether its double coins, more % of being the special character e.g Juggernaut or VIP providing some cool meshed sword and a chat title.

I recognized the problem with my monetization and I plan on adding gamepasses for swords, music boxes, stuff like that

This is like renting out a billboard for 5 dollars, your advert will be only shown to a small number of people.
