Hey, so I’ve been making this king of the hill game for the past week and it’s been going great and have had people say it’s fun and also have been sponsoring it and great stats on those but retention doesn’t seem to be in my favor and wasn’t sure what part of the game loop could make players possibly return other then the flags update I released, but I got to thinking…
So in my game, when you’re the king of the hill you earn $10 passively every second, so lets say at the end of your play session you accrue 300 seconds on the hill which means you earned $3000 cash, that got me thinking what if I implemented something called “King’s Legacy” where basically while your offline you can get up to 50% of what you earned in your last play session the quicker you revisit the game, I’m thinking like 5 hour fall off would be alright and I’ve been going through the numbers and it doesn’t seem too bad here a graph to like visualize it better
So the max offline reward will always be 50% of your total last session time as king x 10, so this means that playing the game will always be more beneficial then not and I’m hoping this would also encourage players to come back to the game more consistently and faster as well
I’d love to hear any thoughts on this cause I’m in the process of implementing it
