I challenged myself to see what I can make in 15 minutes (Searching for feedback.)

So, recently, I was bored in the middle of the night. I had been stressed because a tornado had hit my house. I figured, “Why not develop to de-stress? That usually helps me out a lot.” I added an extra challenge for myself, however. This game could only be made in 15 minutes. I am very proud of what I got. The end result is great. Players spawn into a quickly built lobby (Built in about 4 and a half minutes.) waiting for an intermission to begin. From there, they are teleported to a series of disappearing plates. They also receive a sword to kill each other on the plates while jumping to stay alive. Intermissions are 10 seconds and games are 50. It is a fast paced game and I even find it fun myself. The intermission script, parented by the GUI on the top of the screen, took around 7 minutes to make- it is a bit buggy since I had no time to debug. From there, I quickly made the disappearing plates and duplicated the crap out of them until I had a good amount. I finished with a total of 5 seconds left. This was an amazing challenge and I recommend this to any developers trying to challenge themselves. The background music was simply added using a background music kit since it would take a lot of time to script in background music myself and I simply did not have that time. All in all, a great challenge. Here is the end result, I am looking for feedback on my 15-minute game (it’s rather bare, I am aware), titled Plates Of Doom:

Its really cool, Fun and simple, even tho i had to play it alone because i was alone in the server (and i have no friends), But out of all of that, it could be an enjoyable experience to play for a few minutes.

The only problem i have is that its a bit… fast in a way, Intermission only lasts 10 seconds which doesn’t give the player much time to relax before the next round, or maybe doesn’t give enough time for the players that just joined the server to load before entering the match, Apart from that its really cool you did a good job for only taking 15 minutes on doing this :+1:

Thank you very much for the feedback- I greatly appreciate it and it helps out a lot! I want to try sponsoring it, but I am unsure yet. I will definitely consider increasing intermission times for more downtime in between rounds! How long would you say is a good time for players to be able to relax before the next round?

Around 20-30 seconds would be the appropiate amount of intermission time, Also sponsoring it its up to you, if it was for me, i wouldn’t recommend sponsoring it YET since as it seems now its not much of a very well-done game (in general terms, if we’re talking about 15 minutes then it is really good) What i’m saying is that if you want to sponsor it you may want to develop it a little more to give better first impressions, maybe not the mechanics, But maybe the builds and gui’s and decorative stuff in general, Maybe rebuild the lobby and make it feel more alive, Add a logo that makes it attract players, Maybe not a really well-made logo Since this was just a 15 minute project, But that would help overall the aspects of the game and make it more fun, But for now its up to you to decide if you let it stay as a “Made it in 15 minutes” game or develop it a bit further now that you’re done with your challenge

Thank you for the tremendous amount of feedback! After a bit of thinking, I have come to a conclusion of what I would personally like to do. I will have a classic/legacy version of PoD (The one linked above) and a revamped version, with the ideas you have suggested be added to the game. I am going to currently focus on reworking the GUI aspects of the game, and get those done. Once I do that, I’ll rebuild the lobby, and add more decoration to the game itself to make it feel as if it’s more alive.

Hello, It’s me you saw in game. (I’m sure you see what I mean by me choosing a rubbish username for my alt!) So I played the game with you. I couldn’t have made anything better, so you have done really well :grinning:. I think that maybe (If you can carry on editing after 15 mins) add some more colour and maybe a game in the lobby. You have done really well! :grinning: :grinning:

Edit: I accidentally replied to a different text! :joy:

Thank you for your feedback, and it was great seeing you in-game! Your alt’s username actually isn’t bad. It’s a pretty great namesnipe. But, not going to stray too far off topic. I’m currently working on a new version!

Thank you and good luck with that!
