I have 0 ideas on how to design my GUI

So pretty much I have no clue on how should I design my GUI. I’m making a horror first person shooter game and when you press spacebar you will see the lobby and there would be buttons and other stuff. Could you please give me ideas? Or where could I get an inspiration? Also feel free to suggest me what should I add or change. Thank you!

Either copy off a tutorial or find a tutor. In desperate times you can hire as well.

Your game looks really cool!

MENU UI

For starters you could add the “Press spacebar to start the simulation” below “VELCORP” or just keep it at the current position. It wont make a diffrence, and you should choose which you think matches the style of your game the most

GAME UI

You could make a UI on the top of the screen or on the top right/left corner to display the Goal/Task/Quest (e.g. “Survive the Night”, “Kill amount Monsters”, “Get to the Exit” etc). Since it’s also a Shooter Game, you could make a UI to display the amount of Bullets the Player has left

Your game seems really interesting so far, and I’d be really happy to play it one day, so please contact me when it’s released if possible. Btw don’t forget to Activate your Windows, and have a good day!! :happy3:

Thank you! I was planning to add buttons to choose your weapons, make your squad with people you wanna play with since I want cooperation in this game to be important and choosing the levels you wanna play although you have to complete the previous levels to unlock next ones. But I really wonder what the design could be since I don’t want to ruin the horror vibe with a bad UI.

I recommend to steal design ideas from other games, cause professional game companies often hire domain specific people for things like UI design. You will most likely not be able to match the quality of their designs, but that is fine. Their work is publicly available within their games.

You could take Apeirophobia as an Example (the UI’s). You can keep the style Black & White, have stuff flickering, etc. As long as you go for a dark vibe, it will still have a feeling of a Horror game.

Take a look at 5-10 games in your genre, and you’ll start to see patterns. These patterns are useful to copy if they make sense, because players are already used to them, and expect things to work that way.
