I have a device that seems to meet the minimum requirements but I still can't use Roblox Studio, this is strange since I can play Roblox

Hi everyone, recently (about a month ago), I haven’t been able to create experiences in Roblox Studio due to an error indicating that my system doesn’t meet the minimum requirements. I’ve attached a photo, but it’s in Spanish.

Although the device I’m using is very old, according to the official information I read from Roblox, it should still be compatible. The strangest thing is that even though I can’t use Roblox Studio, I can access Roblox experiences without any issues.

This is most likely due to a recent update that my device no longer supports, but I’d still like to know if the error can be fixed or if I’ll no longer be able to use Roblox Studio.

I’ve already tried uninstalling and installing Roblox Studio and reinstalling the operating system on my device, but that didn’t work.

My system information:

Processor: Intel(R) Core™2 Duo CPU T5800 @ 2.00GHz 2.00 GHz
Installed RAM: 4.00 GB (3.00 GB available)
System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64 processor

Windows specifications:

Edition: Windows 10 Pro
Version: 22H2
OS Build: 19045.5608
Windows Feature Experience Pack: 1000.19061.1000.0

Expected behavior

I would like this error which I hope only happens to me, to be fixed so I can continue creating in Roblox Studio.

Are you sure you have the FULL 3 gb of ram allocated? If you have other processes running its unlikely that Roblox Studio is able to utilize all of it. I would recommend upgrading your ram in all honesty as it’s easy to run out of memory with only 4 gb with modern Windows programs, browsers, etc…

As the above user stated, this is the amount of RAM present on the machine. You are probably allocating some on a shared basis due to integrated graphics. We put a hard cutoff on RAM, so if the OS reports less than 3 Studio will fail to start.

Also note that the requirements for Player are different from Studio, as Studio needs to do a lot more, especially for memory.

It would be better off mentioning the RAM requirement as 4GB to avoid confusion. Because technically almost no device with 3GB of RAM can run studio due to forced RAM allocation for integrated graphics. Most people would expect to have their 3GB RAM devices run Studio if they see the requirements, as not everyone is aware of forced RAM allocation to integrated graphics and that Studio exactly requires 3GB of RAM.

We’re setting the bar where it is because its the absolute minimum we believe users can work with Studio in an “ok” fashion.

Its mostly based off of error rates - we see a huge increase in locks, crashes etc at a very high rate once total system RAM drops below 3GB. Between 3-4 this decreases. There are a lot of machines below 4 but above 3 due to how much RAM is given to the GPU on systems with integrated GPUs and 4+GB RAM…

In all cases the minimum experience is “best effort” as we really recommend 8GB or higher. Below 8GB the incidents of out of memory (OOM) errors increases dramatically - and the likely hood of failure while running a local client server test or multiple instances also increases.

One thing we will do is improve the error messaging to include the reasoning as to why we aren’t going to run. Also, dxdiag is a good tool as well to help understand how Windows is making use of the physical available memory on the system.
