I have no motivation to build anymore

Since people are saying that my builds are bad.

How am I able to build better than this

Check the Roblox DevHub for many interesting tutorials! However, we can’t help you so you will be motivated again. Don’t listen to people criticizing you without providing you suggestions so you can improve your work.

Just keep building and look at how other people build. (Of course, don’t steal or copy their build.)

After a while when you keep building, you will eventually get better. It will take time, but in the long run you will get better at building.

I can heavily relate to this right now.

I really didn’t have much reason to build.
I don’t get very many game visits, I’m not very good at building, and I know I use free models sometimes.

I was in a giant mess until I found an excepting group that decided to hire me.
Right now I build a lot more, and my job their is to make little models.

I recovered by finding people who just wanted me to do simple work, I have a feeling this will improve me a lot as a Roblox developer.

It looks amazing! Why don’t you feel motivated? I really like how it looks, and I’m not just saying it because I don’t build good, but also because it’s true!

You have to try new things. Experiment. See what styles you like and what you’re best at. Watch building time lapses to learn techniques. Etc.

You could try learning more complex shapes on google or how to use textures. That might help. Remember building isn’t about what others think, its about what you think.

Everybody starts in a different way. Don’t listen to those people who say that your builds are bad , keep practicing and then later on these will be the people will appreciate and your builds. If you think you are doing good then that’s what it matters. Don’t listen to others what they say about your builds. Just keep on going and trust me after becoming a very good builder, you are going to look back and see how wrong were they were and how much you have improved after that nobody will be able to stop you.

While I’m not sure I can motivate you-

Building is really time consuming and takes an incredibly long time to master. It takes a lot, and I mean a lot, of practice to really get a feel for bringing what you visualize into fruition. There’s no way for anyone besides you to tell you to build ‘better’ because building is about creating what YOU visualize, and last time I checked, nobody’s in your head but you. When visualizing, remember to think about your priorities - how much detail should the build have, in exchange for performance or development time? How well can you use the detail to replicate your vision?

If you want to improve, try starting smaller. It can be really refreshing to start a new project with an exciting vision, so maybe try looking up reference pictures, say for houses. Experiment with new shapes, textures, depth, and materials. See how well you can match your reference, and if you get stuck on something, ask for help! Practice makes perfect, as with any skill.

Different builders have different ways of building, the same as different people enjoy the look of different things. All that matters, as someone said above, is that you’re happy with it.
You don’t have to be the best at using studio, and doing everything to extreme detail in order to create a good build.

What I would recommend is practicing things and trying things that you may not be used to or the most comfortable with yet, personally when I lack on ideas I search for a reference image on Google and try to recreate it as exactly as I can in studio for practice purposes (I would 100% advise against claiming anything as your own if it was created through reference). This helps me to refine certain techniques that I probably wouldn’t really use otherwise, but upon finishing it you can look at it and be happy with what you’ve made because by comparison you can see that you did a good job.

To get inspired in order to create new things, I look at what others are creating and play a bunch of different games. For example I might play a pirate game and become inspired to build a boat, maybe a city showcase and I want to build a city of my own or a recreation of a real life city. Alternatively, you could look around outside in your local area for ideas of what you could try creating.

Aside from this I would recommend experimenting with lighting and depth as they can make a lot of builds look ten times better, and also perhaps experiment with some plugins to achieve things more easily in less time, I personally mess around with plugins like Archimedes, Stravant’s tools (Resize align, material flip, reflect etc), Ropemaster, just to name a few.

Everything is quite plain using a default wood texture.

Dont rely on other peoples opinions!! Your builds are nice and theyll only get better, if your happy building what you build then you keep doing that! Ask for feedback on your builds, people will respond with constructive criticism, dont be offended by this because their genuinely trying to help you, but if someone is just straight up being rude you need to just ignore them, youll be 10x better than them!

There is no variation of shape and no depth to the map at all. You need to add more levels to the map and different shapes and sizes of buildings. Your building is very repetitive, so much so that even all of your trees are the same and even face the same direction.

Just put a little more time and effort into each building and make them unique and a bit more thought into your landscape and you’ll improve tenfold.

Your build isn’t bad at all, it’s just very bland and samey.

I actually like your build a lot, don’t listen to what people say, everyone builds differently.

With that said, I do have a few suggestions that may help improve the overall look of your build:

  • The trees look very similar to each other. I would try modeling some trees in blender, and make each tree look a little bit different. If this isn’t possible, changing the height of the tree would do a world of good.
  • Most of the apartments and homes look pretty similar to each other. I actually really like the look of every house having the same general shape, but I think your build could improve drastically if you change minor details on each house. For example, changing the window layout, adding a balcony on some, or adding a porch.
  • It could use a playground since it’s a housing area.
  • Since it looks a bit like an apartment complex, having a parking lot could help a lot.

There is always time for improvement, you could always look at images for examples. Also try to use variants of buildings, also add bushes and rocks, and mess around with the terrain. Try not to use free models for anything.

Keep pushing forward. We all have to start somewhere. In my opinion it looks great! Get more practice and watch some tutorials! Don’t give up too soon!

If building doesn’t work out for you try scripting. :+1:

Practice, use inspiration (pictures), avoid free models (so you can practice), try out different techniques, and believe in yourself

If you don’t want to build anymore DONT WORRY, You can check for others ocuppations, If you sick but you still want to continue…, Try Inspire your skills on real things, See videos of youtube, Try Add The Most Posible Detaills to Your BUILD…, Its an advice of me, that i passed for the same emotion :frowning:

This is the day your journey with the 3D software known as “Blender” rises.

If you cannot adapt to ROBLOX Studio’s mechanisms, you can with Blender.
Although Blender may seem difficult at first, I can assure you it is a lot easier to process than ROBLOX Studio.
Take your time, and you’ll be able to create builds that you never imagined that you could create. :+1:
