I have to battle with 3D preview resetting custom pivot

As a user, it’s currently painful to use the 3D preview for avatars/items. The preview allows me to pivot around the item to get a better look, but then the preview starts rotating automatically again. It’s an ongoing battle to use the preview because as soon as I get it where I want to, it starts moving away.

This could be somewhat alleviated by increasing the delay before the rotating starts again, but even then the issue would still be present. I sometimes spend a minute or two looking at my avatar, contemplating a change. Instead of increasing the delay before the rotating starts, it would be nice if the 3D preview disabled the rotation/camera reset while the preview element was active (selected), even after the mouse is released. As soon as the user clicks somewhere outside of the preview, the rotation resumes.

If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would make it more convenient to inspect my avatar and catalog items.

IMO the correct solution here is not to increase the delay but to not start rotating automatically again at all after you’ve interacted. If you’ve interacted at all then you clearly want to manually fiddle with the view, not have it automatically rotate.

You can always refresh the page if you really want it to automatically rotate again for some reason.

Yeah, I completely agree with stravant here, especially when I want to focus on a specific part of the avatar. It’s hard to just be able to keep your view on one specific part of the body when after a second or two, the view automatically switches back to the pivot.

We have plans to address this.
