I made a simulator map showcase to try and get better at multiple things

Forest-Simulator-UI-2 Forest-Simulator-UI-1

I built a small forest simulator map to test my building skill, my modeling skill, my UI Design “skill”, and my music skill.

Here is the song I made to go along with the game. “A Loss Within The Forest - Magic360”

You can take a closer look at the game through here. Keep in mind the song will not be in the actual game because I don’t have any money to upload the song lol. Also only the “Help” “Credits” and “X” buttons have functionality in the game.

If you could please give me feedback on at least one of the four things listed above, I would greatly appreciate that.

Crediting the few things not by me (this also appears in the game)

Text is from ThreeDText plugin, The open/close GUI script is from TheDevKing’s Video titled “Roblox GUI Scripting Tutorial #2 - TextButton (Beginner to Pro 2020)”, The lighter bricks on the shop and the scattered fence placement are both inspired by RoBuilder, and the path is made using the Archemedies plugin. Also I used the Paintbrush Plugin to place the trees for the most part. Everything else is by me!

edit: Here is the like for v2 of the game, taking advice as of my next reply to this thread.
edit 2:
Here is the new version of the song above (from feedback):

Here is the new song I made based on different feedback to try and fit the build more:

The map and all the other designs look wonderful but none of that is my forte.
The music you’ve composed seems to have no direction to it. The beginning with the drums surely catches one’s attention but the drums never come back. While the solo guitar is playing it repeats quite a lot without anything else happening, when the recorder (or is it a flute?) comes in it gives us that nice contrast. But the call & answer between the guitar and recorder seems a little out of place.
You can possibly develop the recorder & guitar playing together further and add the little call and repeat sections as a contrast later in the song to then repeat the ideas before that. Also, the drumkit seemed a little out of place, maybe try shakers and congas instead.
Other than those suggestions the song is coming along well and I look forward to seeing what you do!

Hey  I just checked it out in-game, the layout of the game is pretty nice and I love how it’s all filled and compacted instead of just randomly placed all over the map. A few things that you could fix up are the buildings themselves, they’re nice just don’t fit the style of the game. Other than that its really good :slightly_smiling_face:

The song does not feel like it suits your game and should be developed more. Try developing the melody a bit more with more contrast between instruments. Add a drums but only make them loud enough to be just noticeable.

The map honestly looks pretty dang good, but the UI feels a little basic, there’s no style to it. The music is ok, but the drums at the beginning are a little useless. It also takes a while to get the flute into the song, so maybe bring that back a few measures. Otherwise, pretty good!!

It looks great, But the music it reminds me of a RPG back in the 80s like I don’t know like I lost or won something or my queen just died It’s sad not sure, but it does not go with the game sorry for being hard on you, but it is great but not for that game it to sad make the music more upbeat more poping
something that make’s you want to click. Keep up the great work, UI and build A+ :+1: :+1:

Sorry for a semi-late response, I just woke up like an hour ago.

Here is the link to the new version of the game
And here is the new version on the song

Response to UI Things

I’m not really good at UI design so I just tried to add some details to the main UI parts

Response to building things

I changed the buildings to be heptagon-shaped to match the tree leaves, trunks, and borders. I also made the bricks heptagons as well.

Thank all of you for the kind words!

Response to music things

Listening back I totally agree with the song not having direction to it. I reformatted the song to start with a solo of guitar lasting less long than it did. I then added the flute and afterwards tried to make rhythms more complex until the “bridge” part where I placed a bit of call and response. I tried to make the song less repetitive overall other than the outro is a repeat of the intro to tie everything together.

(in new version) I tried to complexify the melody as the song goes on until the bridge section. I then tried to use call and response to change it up. The section after the call and response I think also helps develop the melody.

Removed drums. I tried to add drums like AnimalBot99 said like more of congas and stuff but idk where to find those in garageband lol. Also I think having just the 2 instruments makes for a more minimalist sound in my opinion, something I initially went for.

Did this.

I understand the song doesn’t go with the game lol. When I made the song I was thinking more of “forest” rather than the actual circumstance of “bright poppy forest simulator map thing” which led me to a darker sound overall. Also you aren’t being too hard on me, I understand you just want to give feedback and I really appreciate that!

Again, I agree for reasons stated in the reply to the last quote and to both of you, I might try and make a different song that fits the game more and update this whenever I’m finished with that.

Thank you all for taking your time to help and give me feedback, I greatly appreciate that!

The song sounds so much better now and has a more clear meaning to it! Bravo with the work done to it. Hopefully you take it further and keep adding more to it! Good luck composing!

Update: I created a different song based on feedback from Oldschool_Justice and Gulibear1232.

“A Win Within the Forest - Magic360”

I tried to use the guitar and flute like in the original song but ended up turning it into more of an electronic-style song, only using the flute as an outro piece. I think it’s a lot more of a happy, energetic vibe than the other song and should fit more because of it.

Thank both of you so much! I really appreciate everyone’s help so far on this thread!
