I use Logic Pro X with the fabfilter and uhe plugins

Was the “moving between the ears” effect in the headphones intentional? It’s kind of throwing me off.

I think the filter just breaks the song a lot, just seems to be muffled or played behind a wall. Perhaps you can fill your sounds with the necessary sounds that cover the high frequency.

That is the point. I am using this in a horror game (but I will make the notes a lot scarier.)
If that’s the case, here’s an idea: Vinyl grain. It is most likely a complementary layer to the mix.

I actually used the UHE satin plugin to try to add grain. Do you think I need more?
Sounds nice, gives me some retro’ish vibes.

I believe you do need more grain or something that pops and cracks noise into the higher end, if possible. Keep it subtle if you still want it muffled.
