Why did my bevel turn out like this? I’ve tried everything to fix it, all I want to make is a simple railing. The bevel always ruins it.
The Bevel works depending on the distance from the closest vertices to the edge you selecting.
So basically if you see, you beveling the top right edge, there is loopcut in the right edge but on top there is no vertex, it is flat.
So it is not proportional, the bevel is basically acting like on top there is “more space” to move, but in the right edge as there is a vertex It should shrink a little bit more.
I’m not sure If you understood that but hope that helps you.
It helped me a lot. But is there a way to delete that vertex right there without getting rid of the whole right edge?
Yes, click the vertex, press X and click “dissolve vertices”
It won’t get rid of it whatsoever. I tried getting rid of the edge in the middle, and the bevel still turns out awful
If it didnt work as @mutrix said, try this.
Tick the button shown as below:
Then this adjustment frame will apper and u can adjust the vertical line there till u get what u want.
It might help ig coz i tried it just now
I will try, thank you hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Alright so what I did was recreating your model
I added a loop cut on top so its proportional, see the video:

Make sure it is set to “Superellipse”
Thing is, it’s not a 3d object. It’s just a normal plane, and 2d edges. From 2d edges I planned to convert to mesh and boom.
Here it is with a plane, but now I select “affect vertices”

Affect vertices was selected all along. Not working either. Pet me show you my model since yours was a bit wrong.
As I said, you need to add a vertex to make it proportional like I showed above, you need to add the vertex, you only have 1 in your model at the right edge, add a loop cut vertically so you add vertex on top
It just doesn’t want to work man. This is awful. I’ve made railing before using this technique and I never ran into this problem. This popped up one day and I haven’t been able to do anything since then
That is because you probably toogled on something and it stayed like that
I think I know what it is: https://gyazo.com/7fb099284818f3a0ead0a9b19f2c9f72
Make sure you have clamp overlap off
It was off all the time, nothing changed
You might be able to change the bevel mode. Press M while you’re making a bevel to toggle it from Percent to Offset.
If this doesn’t work, send us the model to look at what’s happening.
I have tried that too, doesn’t work
Send us the model then - we know the solutions, it’s just difficult to explain all of them.
Go out of edit mode, select the mesh then go:
Object > Apply > Scale
Then redo the bevel and it should be correct.
Thank you @Aotrou @mutrix and @bibidh040. Turns out I had to do exactly what @PlaceRebuilder said and managed to fix the model.
