I would scale them down and put them above the join a party menu.
For me, it looks pretty generic and bland. You can spice it up with your own way. There is way too much blank space IMO.
Should I make the bg a picture of the game?

I suggest have a preview of the game by moving the player’s camera. That’s what most game’s intro screen do.
