Hello,
I am Tup_Lad and I am a new builder. I have found myself using Blender but I can’t find any way to teach myself how to use it on blender2.82a. Any suggestions?
Watch some tutorials - low poly terrain is a pretty easy thing to start off with. Also try and make some low poly rocks.
Through personal experience, i found it difficult to find tutorials on Blender 2.82a, so I dropped back to blender 2.8. It has pretty much the same layout, but a lot more videos. Just a recommendation
Ok. Any suggestions for videos?
How do you download it? I can’t find a way.
Edit: I’ll tell you how instead.
- First of all, delete everything in the scene.
- Next, insert a plane.
- Go into the modeling tab and resize the plane to your liking.
- Press Ctrl + R and find where you want to cut your plane. Keep repeating this until you have made multiple vertices. Note that when you add a vertice, the number of triangles increases. Keep the triangle count under 10,000.
- Use the move tool and select a vertice. Move the vertice so it looks like terrain. Keep the terrain flat. Repeat this step multiple times.
- Select all vertices and extrude them upwards.
- Export the file as a .fbx file.
- Go into Studio and insert a meshpart.
- Find the properties of the meshpart and click on the folder icon.
- Find your saved .fbx terrain file.
- Double click it. It may come up with a message saying, “The mesh you are importing is very large. Would you like to resize it?” Click yes to that. It may also come up with a message saying this,
“The mesh you are importing contains location dater, would you like to move it to the location?” Click no to that. - Resize the meshpart to your liking.
- Change the material to Slate and make the color / colour grey / gray (gosh spellings are different across the globe).
- Duplicate the meshpart.
- Make the duplicated meshpart shorter.
- Make the duplicated meshpart’s color / colour green and the material grass.
- Group the meshparts and name the group “Terrain.”
- You have successfully made some low poly terrain! Congratulations!
Edit: My Youtube channel is a Minecraft channel and my video editor takes ages to export so I decided to tell you on the DevForums.
Use the search bar, too many posts have been made on this.
First of, start practicing the interface of blender 2.8, when I mean that, I mean the UI and where to press/navigate through.
Learn the Interface of blender:
This video is crucial when being a beginner as you will know where you can render stuff, import models and export etc.
Second of all, once you have finished learning the Interface of blender, you should try watching some basic tutorials.
This youtuber called Grant Abbitt has exercises of blender so the more videos then the more harder the exercises get. This video is Part 1 of the beginner series so keep practicing and if you think that you have mastered that Part 1 then move unto Part 2 etc and etc. I followed the some route and I’m pretty much an advanced/intermediate modeler.
Hi there, I have a community where you can ask how to make or get help.
https://industrialcommunity.discourse.group
If you sign up and post in a category and ask for help, we can help you!!
You can build in Roblox Studio and just import it to blender, then simply put textues on the meshes.
I do this, resulting work like below.
My tutorial is on 2.82 btw. It will be up soon.
There are many tutorials out there that can help you with your experience in Blender as it did for me when I was teaching myself. For instance, there is the Blender Documentation Site. It may not be much but it’s very useful in getting started with Blender. However, this isn’t the only way you can learn Blender. There are many YouTube channels on how to properly use Blender and learn. Blender Guru is a YouTube channel teaching newcomers to Blender from the basics to advanced. He has some excellent advice and I would consider you to watch some of his content as it may help you.
Totally agree with the YouTube part - that’s how I learned.
Amazing work! Thanks guys!
