So I am making a story game, and I am trying to make a hotel one, but it looks really similar to the normal hotel game by samsonXVI, this is including what happens, I don’t want this to be copyrighted, so I am asking for ideas for a hotel game challenges, do you guys have any ideas? PS: I don’t want it to be unoriginal, for example rain hurts you or when the guide leaves the monster attacks, but I am not adding a guide, but you get the point.

First off, the dude won’t copyright you over a model. Second, do everything the story games don’t

Maybe you can have some really interesting twists.
For example, in the game Omori, you play as two characters, Omori and Sunny. Omori is inside of Sunny and is Sunny’s escape to “headspace” inside his mind.
What if you were the monster all along?
Omori started off as a temporary escape to Headspace for Sunny, but quickly grew out of Sunny’s control.
Maybe the characters had been through a traumatic experience, such as being experiments in a lab. They created a personality, insert monster name here, to help them escape the trauma they’ve been through. Soon enough, the monster grew out of control, and began taking lives. They were the monsters all along.
And then there’s a split ending. You can continue to fight the monster, until you successfully get them out of your head. Or you can give up, and the monster takes over you forever, and continues to commit crimes and murder while in your body. Obviously not just “Fight” or “Give up” but something more creative.
Just something I thought of off the top of my head. Hope this helps.

Just don’t make a story game. There are way to many on ROBLOX and the usually only attract a small crowd. They also don’t have any returning players as once those who want to go through the story go through the story they won’t do it again. I guess it is a way to make a quick buck if you have game passes but overall it will hurt your development record.
You can’t copyright an idea, remember that, but you can copyright assets, like audio. As long as the plot, the color scheme and the basic lay out are different, then you should be good. Also some ideas for the plot are:

Actually, story games are fun to make and they are easier and you don’t even need a team to have the best success, I also asked many developers about this and they seemed to agree with it.

It’s in the name. Play 5 story games, then write down everything about them. If they all share something similar (which they do), then do the opposite. Also, don’t name your game Hotel story.

I do have an idea actually, it’s kinda based off of my favourite game Undertale with a mix of Wizard of Oz. Maybe make a story where the player is drifting away into a dream. They feel like they are falling down while thei r feelings become numb. They feel a huge impact, and try to open their eyes. When they do so, they see that they have fallen into a huge pit, while it looks like people live in there. After some exploration, they stumble upon a certain being. It attempts to silence you, but fortunately, there’s person who saves them. A lot of adventure and exploration later, many characters are introduced to the player, but it differs whether they meet in a Peaceful way or not. At this point, you can maybe add a fight between the previously mentioned being. Add a backstory for it during the fight, about maybe that it was a person at one point. My whole idea is that, the entire adventure and final boss fight changes the player mentally. So, when they wake up, they are a changed person altogether.

If that make sense…
base it off of a classic roblox game
provide maybe a story to it
like doomspire brickbattle
maybe we will find out why we are in the middle of nowhere fighting people
Try making them have more options or endings, by letting players choose (for example, choosing to call the police in case something happens in the hotel or investigate them on their own)
