I’ll give you some advice, never paint with spots of color. Before your eyes there should be a picture with the texture of some material, and in the course of work you start from it.
For example, a tree texture has stripes, irregularities, scratches, chips (first you draw a base for all this in the form of strips of wood). And you add detail with the last stage of work
