Yo. I have made a game known as Lyfe Remastered. You live life and that’s about it. Whenever me, my friends, or anyone else play’s the game, it just feels really boring. According to my stats, most people don’t stay for any longer than nine minutes.
I don’t understand why people don’t play my game much. I can’t even play it for more than around a minute without losing interest. I spend hours thinking what’s wrong and how to fix it, but so far, I have no solution.
Do any of you (people who are probably more experienced than me) know how can I fix my game?
Due to the low amount of recurring players, it is hard for players to “roleplay”. You could learn how to make talking NPCs so the player feels less lonely.
I don’t have my computer right now (so i can’t play the game), but i found the thumbnails kinda uninteresting (for me…) You should add ones that have people doing stuff. Interacting, etc
I think your game lacks goals.
You didn’t say this was a roleplay game, and it lacks the usual roleplay game mechanics like renaming, morphs/outfits, tools, etc.
So I figure the point is to just play and eat food, which itself isn’t usually fun. There aren’t any clear goals to work towards, no clear means of achieving them. I think if you want success on this one you should take a look at RoCitizens.
My reasoning is that RoCitizens also encourages players to live a fictional life, but provides them with problems and solutions. Players are homeless, but can get a job and a cheap place. Players can over time buy nicer and cooler things, and move on to better jobs. These upgrades give a clear purpose and can be incorporated into roleplay.
Adding NPCs that feel alive is a good way to liven up Role-playing games with few players. I think Temprist made a video on a role play game he made and advertised, and one of the reasons people who played that game stayed was how everything could be done by yourself and still be fun. Eventually, more people joined and it became more of a roleplay game, but if no one had stayed than that wouldn’t have happened.
