Icon Design help

I need help creating an appealing icon for my game

I want a good icon to attract players to my game but I'm a bit new to this region, any suggestions to make better game icons
I'm accepting advice about what software to use, what kinds of designs look better etc.
please post anything that could help me improve this. (It currently is quite low quality but I'm not sure how to go about improving it)

I’m honestly clueless so any advice is good advice at this point.

You’ll need to first actually explain your game, and what you’re trying to accomplish with your icon. I’d be happy to help, I can do a GFX icon (no charge) if you’d like. Feel free to contact me further. memesdead101@gmail.com and start a hangout chat.

That’d be great, if you want, I can allow you to join my game and you can see for yourself what it’s like and then you can just get a better understanding of what I’m going for.

Alright, please send a link and if you’re interested in the GFX send a hangout invite.

This is a link to the game: (NEW UPDATE!) Daylight Tower [Beta] - Roblox
feel free to give me criticism on what I can improve for my icon.

Seems very interesting! I like the concept. An idea could basically be (excuse the poor drawing) :

Thanks for the idea, how does this(slightly modified) logo look:

@SyIverStar
I took your idea and modified it a bit, this is what I got.

it is worth paying a professional for a game icon
Yours will not attract players

Great job! (Sorry for late reply, was busy) That is a great icon and will definitely attract players.

Keep in mind that this will be a 150x150px icon, so everything will have to be clear on a small format. It’s definitely way better than the first iteration, but I’d recommend using a thicker font and either - a white outline that wraps around the entire letters instead of the white rescaled letters behind them - a slightly brighter shade of grey (like 128,128,128 in rgb) to make them stand out more from the black background parts - or switch between darker and lighter letter colours depending on the background they’re on.
As for the background, it’s not really clear what it is with a first look on it, depending on the type of game I’d change it into something more recognisable like two castletowers or something at each side.

I tried making the colors alternate for the background but it’s really hard to do that on the software I’m using. I really appreciate the feedback though, thank you!
