Icon for experience with different source language doesn't change

Hello!

We have made La Station SQUAT as an experience with French as it’s source language and we believe it may have caused an issue with the localization of the marketing material ( icon, thumbnail ).! In the Creator Dashboard, we clearly see the image that we want to be shown for users in all languages but no matter what we change in the Creator Dashboard, the icon never changes on Roblox. The icon shown on Roblox for French is different than the one we want and we have no where to change it.

It’s important that we find a solution to this, we are now incapable of changing our game’s icon for our most important targetted audience.

Expected behavior

When changing the Icon and thumbnail in the Content Settings page, it should change the icon displayed for French users on Roblox.

@freegroundcaptain Thank You for posting this issue, could you please tell us if it still happens for you?

Yes, when using a French language account, I still see the wrong image

Hey @freegroundcaptain - a follow up question for you: have you ever changed the “Source Language” setting for your experience on the Localization page?

Yes and it works well for the content in-game. All of the original text in the game is in French and gets translated in English.

But for the Icon/Thumbnail, it seems to be causing problems

Hi - taking a look into this.

Can’t give a definitive timeline to fix - possible this could be a fundamental issue with some of our backend systems that requires multiple changes to fix when a source language gets retroactively changed.

Is it possible to isolate the source language for the experience and for the marketing material? ie have French be the source language for the in-game text and English be the source language for the icons/thumbnails …

Or can you change the french icon yourself on your end? We can provide the image we’d like. Right now we’re stuck with an image that’s just underperforming

Hi - while it’s not possible to separate language settings for in-game text vs icons/thumbnails, I can manually change the icon on our end.

Just to confirm -

This is the image you want as the display icon for french users right?

Actually - I think I can fix this long term.

Right now, if I manually change the image, any future icon changes will require additional manual intervention on our part.

The reason this bug is happening is because at some point the universe source language wasn’t French - but a French translation for the icon was created. When the source language was switched to French - the underlying translation isn’t retroactively updated. So it’s reading an old translation value for French right now.

I can delete the French translation entry - which will cause the image you screenshotted in your creator dashboard to show up. If you can confirm the image I put in my above reply is the one you want, I’ll go through with deleting the translation entry.

Yeah! Let’s try this.

Yes its the right image

Done - let me know if the end result wasn’t what you wanted. I changed my locale to French and see the following icon right now:

Thank you, it worked!

So now, we should be able to change it?

Yes, you should be able to change it on your end for any language
