You don’t need to cover it up if you don’t want to. The wood is honestly a nitpick a developer would only be bothered about.
I suppose that’s true; not every thing is or has to be perfect. I think it’s just something which lingers in my head, constantly contemplating whether or not I should fix it. Once I whisp up enough courage to face it, I’ll fix it.
Thanks once again
The lighting is good, but try adding some ceiling mounted fixtures to simulate how lights would look (the wall lights would cast onto the floor mainly, wall lights arent very well diffused while the room has well diffused lights)
The wall color looks a little too red for my liking. Other than the colors, the design is amazing.
I’d recommend you tweak some lighting settings as well to adjust the shadows. The lights on the side of the corridor in the newest version look like they’re lighting up the whole room.
When you add the wall lamps make the lighting a nice warm cashmere colour. Oh and set the lighting Technology to “Future”, It will make it look so cool. Explorer > Lighting > Properties > Technology.
This is the default lighting technology which is called ShadowMap:
And then this is the lighting technology set to future:
I hope this helps!
Apologies for the late reply, I was going to reply after I finished some other arbitrary tasks, but it passed my mind for some reason. I saw your reply again when the post was bumped!
I created a lighter version of the room, along side one with a more orangey-yellow style:
I personally prefer the top one, but differ however
(I also added some little plants and added a beam to the wall lights)
Ah lighting technologies. I did play around with each technology (I’ll refer to it as a mode) and I think ShadowMap
fits my interest best. I did take a picture with Future
enabled though:
The reason for me preferring ShadowMap
over Future
is for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, the lights emit how they’re supposed to. I know my statement makes zero sense, however, you can see how the room is really dull without the extra light and makes any objects (which may be present) not appear so strictly.
Secondly, Future
is a mode which takes up more memory (I believe when I checked via the developer console memory log) Additionally, the performance may be tackling when it comes down to the lower-end devices.
It does look a lot better in Future
, but again, the performance impact may affect people who don’t have access to the big bulky machines us developers use.
Ah yes, I get what you mean. Thats a good idea to stick with ShadowMap
so that lower end device users have a smoother experience.
I like the version on top with the darker shade or orange for the walls. The colour on the first image is more soft with the eyes, if you know what I mean. The version at the bottom with the brighter shade of orange is too harsh, thats just my opinion though. I do have to say that the corridor looks so good now. I like it a lot.
I’d recommend to add paintings and other wall decor. Some small tables with vases would look nice. Think something like doors.
